James Pritchard has left Coventry RFC.
A bit of surprise this one, but apparently following a mid-season review it has been decided to release James Pritchard from his duties as both a player and a defensive coach.
There's an announcement by John Wilkinson on the official site which seems to suggest that Mr Pritchard has paid the price for our somewhat leaky defence.
Personally, I'm not too sure how I feel about this - it seems pretty ruthless but I guess that's the nature of professional sport. If I was a player though, I'd certainly be feeling a little guilty and a tad uncomfortable if I'd slipped off a tackle or two in the last few games.
Either way, Pritchard is a player with a remarkable personal record and a tremendous amount of experience. I'm sure he won't be short of other options within the game. I would imagine that all Coventry fans will join me in wishing him every success in his future career.
