Lost, but it was tight!

One of those days when you come away from the ground feeling slightly robbed, then on reflection realise what a cracking game you've just watched.

This felt a little like some sort of abbreviated form of the stages of grief, in a reworked eighty minute format.  First the shock as Hartpury went ahead and looked for a little while as if they could tear us apart at will.  Then the hope, as Cov slowly worked their way back into the contest.  Then the bargaining for the penalty try (which after some debate it seems clear the ref got perfectly right), which was followed by the promise of a miraculous escape as Cov took the lead.  Then the anger, as we let them back into it with some loose play.  And in the final minutes, the acceptance that it wasn't going to be our day as we spilled our last chances.

For me this is why we go to watch sport - it might not have gone our way, but it's as good a game as I've seen in a while.  A proper roller-coaster, and what an atmosphere!  I sense we'll be talking about this one at the end of the season and beyond.

And as for the grief, I'm over it already I think.  We didn't win, but it was the kind of performance to build a season on.  Hartpury were good, but they didn't thrash us, and there's no one in this division who will look forward to taking us on.  When word of the entertainment available at the BPA gets around, the crowds will start to rise, I'm sure of it.
