The forgotten man of Coventry’s squad, hooker Chris Locke, is finally at the end of a three-month exile and raring to kick start his injury-hit season.
The 25-year-old, who only missed two games last season after joining the Butts Park Arena club from Bedford Blues, has been restricted to just five replacement appearances after a catalogue of mishaps – the latest, at Tynedale in mid-November, a second concussion which prompted his lengthy lay-off.
But now given the all-clear, Locke returns to full contact training this week with his sights firmly fixed on salvaging something positive from the season.
“I’m getting there,” said Locke. “My statutory three months were up on Saturday and I can’t wait to get going again.
“It’s definitely been a long while away, but unfortunately I had to do it.”
