Coventry were left to reflect on a missed opportunity to put pressure on their National League One title rivals as they were held to a 28-28 draw at Richmond.

With Macclesfield’s home game against leaders Ealing Trailfinders called off, victory in London would have sent Cov to the top of the table.

But after seeing his side denied by an injury-time try, head coach Scott Morgan had to concede that Cov’s below-par performance was a cause for some concern.

“I’m particularly disappointed for the boys,” said Morgan, “but we’re not playing as a team like we were before and we’ve really got to have a think about things.

“We are making things difficult for ourselves now. We were going along quite nicely, just doing what we were doing week in, week out and getting better, but now it feels as if we are taking some steps backwards.
