Coventry head coach Scott Morgan wants to see his players enjoying the rest of the season after Saturday’s 36-12 win at Fylde which lifted them into third place in the National League One table.

Starting the day behind their hosts in fifth place, Cov controlled the game for long periods and rattled up five tries – including maiden scores for Ignas Darkintis and Matt Jones – as they completed their fourth double of the season in impressive manner.

And with games against the top two sides, Rosslyn Park and Doncaster to come next month, Morgan wants his players to make the most of the chance to test themselves against the best.

“Everyone knows Fylde is a tough place to come to and win, and I’m really pleased for the lads,” said Morgan.

“What I want us to have between now and the end of the season is a bit of fun.

“I don’t mean throwing the ball around, but we can have a bearing on what goes on at the top and I want us to enjoy the opportunity to measure the progress we are making against these sides.

The biggest thing is that the players are starting to take on board what it takes to win in this league.

“You need to stick with a structure and a pattern, not trying to play rugby in the wrong areas, and with everyone doing their part of the game plan and fulfilling the role they have in the team.”
