Neil Warnock has admitted an interest in Dundee United keeper Alan Combe as cover for the injured Simon Tracey. Tracey is unlikely to be fit for the start of the season because of a knee problem. His absence would leave Warnock with Dutchman Wilko de Vogt as the only senior keeper available.

Combe is understood to be available for a cut-price £50,000 from the Scottish Premier League side.

The 28-year-old impressed during a two-month loan spell with First Division rivals Bradford City towards the end of last season. He made 16 appearances for the Bantams, who were unable to sign him permanently because of their financial problems.

Bradford boss Nicky Law has still expressed an interest in the keeper but he has again been restricted by the lack of funds available to him at Valley Parade.

Warnock confessed the player is one of a few he is tracking, while an un-named Premiership reserve keeper has opened talks with Warnock, who is also considering a bid to take a young shot-stopper from the top-flight on loan.
