Sheffield United Football Club have signed Iffy Onuora on a free transfer from 1st Division rivals Gillingham Football Club. Onuora was available on a bosman transfer after his contract at Priestfield expired. Blades boss Neil Warnock has been chasing Onuora for a few months now and is keen to work with the man who he worked with at Huddersfield.

Onuora spoke to the Gills official site about his decison to move north. : "Gillingham made me a decent offer, but in the end I did what I thought was best for me, and that was to sign for a bigger club, because - no disrespect to Gillingham - that is what Sheffield United are."


Onuora also spoke about his new boss. "He has been in touch with me through the summer and made it clear he wanted me to sign. To be honest, I didn't figure in his plans very much at Huddersfield, but I think I stand more chance this time round."


At Sheff Utd Onuora will link up with Carl Asaba, the two played together at Gillingham before Asaba moved to The Blades.
