Blades Release Sandford

Sheffield United veteran defender Lee Sandford has had his contract terminated by Neil Warnock with only one-year left of his contract.

Sandford has been suffering from a neck injury since last year and has not recovered 100%. The 34 year old was bought from Stoke City in 1996 for £500,000 and has played over 150 appearances for The Blades. Last week The Blades sold Cameroon international Patrick Suffo to Numencia. The Spanish second division side are reportedly to have paid a six figure sum (probably £100,000) for Suffo. Patrick Suffo was bought from French club Nantes for £150,000 in summer of 2000, but could not make his debut for The Blades due to his lengthy ban by F.I.F.A. |
