With transfer dealine day being this Thursday, Preston manager Billy Davies has admitted new faces may be brought in before the day ends.

Billy Davies had this to say:

"We are always looking for something better or something new and I think that is part of every football club.

"You are always doing that job on a day-to-day, month-to-month basis so with the deadline coming up it is important that we are looking at one or two things and seeing if there are certain things we can do.

"We are still only in talking terms at the moment and trying to do some fact finding so that is ongoing and we will just keep working away at it until the deadline passes."

Davies admits that bringing in new players will help the club on two fronts.

"I think you are always looking to strengthen the squad and you are always looking to cover for certain positions between now and the end of the season and then beyond, it is just forward planning, we are very much hopeful at the moment and we will keep the fingers crossed that something may happen before the deadline closes."
