New Southampton boss Harry Redknapp is looking to sign ex Preston North End striker Ricardo Fuller from his old club Portsmouth... This would mean that Preston could well cash in if the move is completed.

Preston insisted on a sell on clause when Fuller left for Portsmouth, but Deepdale cheifs were today reading over the small print of the contract regarding the Jamaican, as any possible payout could be "complicated".

Because of Fullers knee injury he was on a pay-as-you-play contract at Portsmouth making the financial details complicated.

Derek shaw explained "if he (Fuller) goes to Southampton we don't know what sort of deal they will agree. we have a sell-on clause over and above a certain figure, so it will be interesting to see what happens."

Preston have only received £250,000 so far from the deal which was the downpayment, when he moved to Fratton Park, the rest of the deal, beleived to be £1.1m was to be paid based on apperances of up to sixty.

Redknapp has said he is interested in signing the 25 year old after losing james Beattie to Everton
