New Spurs signing Hossam Ghaly has resumed training after a groin injury but is short of full fitness and match practice and is unlikely to start. Tottenham midfielder Teemu Tainio should have shaken off an ankle injury in time to play, but Andy Reid is still recovering from knee ligament damage.

Blackburn midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen will be rested after suffering a hamstring injury and will be replaced on the left by either David Bentley or Sergio Peter.
