Stadium lit up for the Commonwealth

An estimated audience of 1 billion watched as The City of Manchester Stadium played host to the 2002 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.

The 2 hour spectacular marked the start of the largest multi sport event ever to be held in the country.

Centrepiece of the ceremony was the brand new City of Manchester Stadium that will become City’s new home at the start of next season.

The stadium in it’s current guise is already wowing pundits the world over, once it is converted for football you have to believe that we will be watching City in possibly the best stadium in the country.

Congratulations from mcfconline to the organisers for a splendid night that has well and truly put Manchester on the map …… are you watching London.
