Kevin Keegan will not be signing Nigerian international, Taribo West. West, who is a free agent, had been training with City but failed to meet the basic fitness levels that Keegan wanted.

Interest in West dropped

Kevin Keegan has declined the opportunity to sign Nigerian international, Taribo West.

West had been training with the City squad so that Kevin Keegan could assess his fitness levels.

West, who has not played a game since the World Cup, did not meet Keegan’s fitness standards so will not be offered a contract at Maine Road. He will continue training with the squad for another three days then try and find another club.

In a recent mcfconline poll 58% of those polled thought that West would be a good signing. Having witnessed the form of Sun Jihai and Sylvain Distin and seeing what we have in reserve I personally think the decision not to sign West is a good one.
