Youths 3 – 1 Grimsby Town

Doncaster Youths comfortably beat Grimsby Town youths last Saturday in a match dominated by Rovers.

Despite having a lot of possession, Rovers fell behind after just 3 minutes when poor marking left Smith free at the back post from a free-kick which he nodded in.

Doncaster hit back with a free-kick of their own. Brailsford hit a 25-yard effort which curled past the keeper into the top corner to equalise in sensational fashion.

Flint had his shot well saved by the keeper’s legs; the first of many good saves by the Grimsby goalkeeper.

However, Rovers finally got a second breakthrough in the form of Brown after good work from Nelthorpe left Brown with chance which he slotted in at the far post.

Cockerham in the Rovers goal made a save from point-blank range after a Grimsby corner but just 40 seconds into the second half Flint got Rovers’ 3rd which diminished Town’s hopes and left Doncaster to claim all 3 points.

FINAL SCORE: 3-1
