Lostme did he not introduce a reserve team ,youth set up , get you two Fa cup finals ? All this in a space of what two seasons? You never gave a man with a proven winning track record a chance .

in short, no. he didnt, he sold the core of the side who finished twice two seasons running by ATTACKING, replaced them with awful defensive runners, and yes, got us to ONE cup final. where we surrendered. oh, to have seen ginola beardsley ferdinand and shearer at wembley that day...
he didnt want a team like that though. he took des hamilton instead.

the cry from the stands was 'attack, attack, attack', as a desperate plea to the boss. he didnt listen. sir bobby used several of mr dalglishs signings when he took us into teh later rounds of teh champions league a few years later, but he had added attacking flair again, in robert and bellamy, players mr dalglish would neverf have signed. dont expect any excitement, carra.

You were 6th when he took over and he got you to 2nd. Your club decided to sell Ferdinand, and Shearer was injured for most of the the following season.

TBH, your club weren't worthy of such a winner, you stabbed the King in the back just like you stabbed Bobby Robson. You always have and always will deserve the Keegans of this world, and the Keegans will only ever stay where there's money to spend.

You might not be old enough to remember this but Kenny Dalglish created one of, if not THE best, footballing team this country has ever had. His 1988 Liverpool team were fabulous from front to back and there you have the difference (among many other things) between KK and the King. Keegan played attacking football, Kennys team played beautiful attacking football with a good defence. Keegan couldn't hope to achieve the team that Kenny built.

Why would we expect excitement from Newcastle fans? I'd be more bothered if you thought it was a good appointment as your clubs track record of consistently being losers shows,you wouldn't know a good manager if you fell over him.

Ive watched Liverpool since the late 60s .seen great teams come and go ,great managers ,great players .None were as exciting as Kennys team of the mid eighties . Breathtaking ,flowing ,attacking football . They also won a couple of doubles along the way .He won a title with Blackburn aswell with attacking football again .Not bad considering he brought them up from the championship.He might well of turned it around with Newcastle if given the chance .There again what chance did he have with your kneejerk fans who even turned on their own Sir Bobby for not winning them a pot .

we ended the season 2nd, then his full season was 13th. why do you remove responsibilty for selling ferdinand from the manager? compare the squad he inherited to the one he had a year later. thats the manager, no-one else.

and get off your high horse about stabbing people, thats just daft, no-one was stabbed. the foolish chairman we had made more than one poor decision, including sacking robson and dalglish 4 and 3 games into a season. the only problem with either was the timing.

no-one turned an anyone. there certainly wasnt the undignified hate campaign you lot just ran concerning your last manager.

again, this is beside the point, which is that dalglish did very little for newcastle utd, at a time which saw us at a crossroads similar to where you are now.

deep breathes all round, people. this isnt about stereotypical outside views of the circus on tyneside. up here we are all very well versed in the many and varied way in which we have entertained the nation while shooting ourselves in the foot. if you want an opinion of one who was watching a lot more closely than yourselves, lets talk.

i'm not sure what the reply 'we dont expect excitement from newcastle fans' means though. i clearly meant from the liverpool team under the new manager. lets see who he signs, and lets not compare that to who nufc sign, as it isnt us you want to compete with, is it?

TBH lostme i think NESV look upon Kenny as a short term appointment .They will want a younger man to fit their bill .Now if Kenny does very well it will be a bit of a headache for them. Nt a bad headache mind ,this seasons a write off has been for a long time .Would like to see Kenny give a chance to the really good crop of youngsters here .

No offence LMK but you were the one coming on here telling us you hope he didn't do what he did to Newcastle, making out that he was some kind of ultra negative manager when we already know what Kenny is all about as a manager.

At the time he took over Liverpool it should have been hard to progress them from the Bob Paisley era, but that's exactly what he did and I won't have some fan of another club telling me how bad he was for them, ergo he's going to be bad for a club where he excelled himself both as a player and manager.

You know far more about Newcastle than me, obviously, you're a fan, but I've read so many times, even by your own fans, that the board sold Ferdinand to try and make up for some of the money you'd spent on Shearer.

merely counterbalancing the boundless enthusiasm for a manager who has not been missed since his last premier league job, reasons for that in posts above.

what would you consider to be a successful job by mr dalglish, over the rest of the season? is it merely steadying the boat, or should he be looking upwards to the european places? what position would you accept? how many points?

I hope Kenny can first of all avoid relegation, while at the same time clearing up all the defeatistm negative shiiite that Hodgson left. Once we are safe I know he'll take each game as it comes and see where it gets us. I'll be happy with that especially as we've seen some positives already.

Long term I hope he does well enough to have our owners keep him on, and back him in the summer transfer window. Other than that I hope he's still at the club long term in some capacity while a new younger manager starts a rebuild.

All these years I've watched Kenny take his seat in the directors box thinking he didn't want to be back in football as anything other than a fan, it's great to know we're back in safe hands. I've never known any player, at any club, to be as loved, worshipped and resepcted as Kenny Dalglish is at Liverpool. He led us to many triumphs and through two disasters with honesty, dignity and 100% committment.

On a presonal level I've loved him from the day he made his debut in 1977, he's one of those players that your eyes are compelled to follow, he has presence. He and Muhammed Ali are the only two heroes I've never felt let down by.

are you ready to tell me where kenny should aim yet reds, or are you still chicken?

is 10th failure, from where you are? 8th? what would be acceptable?

I would accept any position Kenny Dalglish gets us to. If that was relegation then so be it.

Obviously a few weeks have passed and we are already seeing an improvement, but as the first half of the season was spent being managed by an absolute incompitent if Kenny gets us in to Europe I'll be ecstatic and consider he'd done a good job.

10th would always be a failure for Liverpool Football Club no matter who the manager was but as already stated, as long as Kenny is here to take us forward I have no problem where we finish this season. Getting rid of Hodgson was the important decision, bringing Kenny back was an inspiration.
