Rafa Benitez has spoken about the professionalism and character of Sami Hyypia as, if picked, he prepares to play his 700th game for Liverpool against Stoke at the week-end. The big Finn has started in 5 of the last 6 games, due to Carra playing RB because of injury to Arbeloa, and has played well in those games.
Rafa said:
"I have a lot of confidence in Sami, he is a fantastic professional so I knew he would play really well".
"Clearly, when you talk about Sami you are talking about a player who has been here for a long time.
"Everybody knows he is a nice lad, a very good professional and a very good player, so we are really pleased to keep him here.
"We have very good centre-backs here and it is good to see all of them competing for a place. That can only be good for the team."
Eh, don't think so! It will be his 460th game for Liverpool if he plays against Stoke. Only Cally has played more than 700 times. It could be Sami's 700th career appearance though bearing in mind he didn't join us until he was 25.
Sorry everyone, Silly mistake but been ill with flu for the last week and the site had to be updated. Just wrote it up quickly from my sickbed.
