There have been thousands of comings and goings in recent weeks in the world of football but in recent days, several former Tranmere players have been making the news with trials, loans and permanent moves occurring that all involve players who once wore the White of the mighty Tranmere Rovers.

Total Tranmere – The News and Views

We all know about Paul Hall and Ryan Taylor moving on to pastures new at Chesterfield and Wigan respectively but which other former Rovers players have been on the move in recent weeks?

Some have joined up with other former Rovers players who they may or may not have played with at Tranmere whilst some will be returning to Prenton Park to face Rovers during the coming season.

Sean Thornton

Just over a week ago, Sean Thornton, who was released by Sunderland following their promotion to the Premiership, joined Tranmere’s League one rivals Doncaster Rovers for a club record fee of £175,000.  Thornton will to return to Prenton Park with his new side on the final day of next season - May 6th 2006.

Alan Navarro

The former Rovers midfielder has joined up this week with League Two side Grimsby Town for a trial with a view to a permanent deal.  Navarro spent most of last season on loan firstly at Chester and then at Macclesfield after falling out of favour at Prenton Park under Brian Little.  Navarro teams up at Grimsby with former Rovers player Andy Parkinson.

Reuben Hazell

Like Thornton, Reuben Hazell will also be returning to Prenton Park this season after joining up with a large ex-Rovers contingent at Chesterfield.  Hazell has a signed a short-term deal until December 31st of this year and joins up with ex-Rovers Paul Hall, Wayne Allison and Shane Nicholson.

Jason Koumas

After an unhappy time at West Brom at the end of Gary Megson’s reign and then under Bryan Robson’s new regime, Jason Koumas has today secured a year-long loan at Championship side Cardiff City in his native Wales.  Koumas made only a few substitute appearances for the Baggies in their return to the Premiership and will now look to resurrect his career at Ninian Park.

Joe Murphy

Rovers' former goalkeeper has recently been at trial at League One side Oldham Athletic but following the completion of the trial, Oldham Manager Ronnie Moore has decided not to offer a contract to the Irishman who spent the majority of last season on loan at Walsall.
