Rovers’ Pre-Season Begins at Vauxhalls Tonight

By Deadly Submarine
August 9 2005

Rover’s season finally gets under way tonight as Rovers travel to Rivacre Park to face Conference North side and neighbours Vauxhall Motors in what has become an almost regular friendly in recent years at a ground where Rovers play a some of their home reserve games. The game kicks off at 7.30pm.

As with most pre-season friendlies, there is unlikely to be any clear team news until just before the game kicks off and if last year is anything to go by, Rover’s Manager Brian Little is unlikely to field the same side for the whole 90 minutes – usually opting for a different side for each half of the game.

According to the Official Website, John Achterberg, Steven Jennings and Paul Brown all look set to miss the pre-season opener with minor injury problems but new signings Sam Aiston and Steve Wilson are likely to be in action at some point in the game.
