After some more comings and goings at Prenton Park in the past seven days, we bring you a summary of the latest status of the Rovers squad members....
It's been a relatively quiet week on the squad front at Prenton Park since our last Squad update but there have been one or two changes with a re-signing, a new signing and a player departure.
Leaving the Club in the past week was defender Martin Riley who made a return to his former Club Wrexham whilst only today, midfielder and Captain Steven Jennings signed a new one-year deal to remain at Prenton Park until the summer of 2017.
The new addition to the Rovers squad and the only one so far was Barrow striker Andy Cook who has signed a two-year contract with the Club in the past seven days.
Here we bring you a complete list of the squad players who ended the season with Rovers and bring their current known status as the summer transfer season gets into full swing in the next few weeks.
Goalkeepers:
Iain Turner: IN CONTRACT
Signed a new one-year contract on 7th May 2016 and is now in contract until the end of the 2016/17 season.
Luke Pilling: IN CONTRACT
Signed a new one-year contract on 3rd May 2016 and is now in contract until the end of the 2016/17 season.
Scott Davies: IN CONTRACT
Signed a new two-year contract on 19th May 2016 and is now in contract until the end of the 2017/18 season.
Sam Ramsbottom: RELEASED
Released on 3rd May 2016.
Defenders:
Evan Gumbs: IN CONTRACT
Signed a new one-year contract on 3rd May 2016 and is now in contract until the end of the 2016/17 season.
Ritchie Sutton: IN CONTRACT
Signed a two-year contract in the summer of 2015 and is in contract until the end of 2016/17 season.
Steve McNulty: IN CONTRACT
Signed a new 18-month contract on 30th December 2016 and is now in contract until the end of the 2016/17 season.
Lee Vaughan: OUT OF CONTRACT
Out of contract as at the end of the 2015/16 season. No new contract offer reported.
Liam Ridehalgh: OUT OF CONTRACT
Out of contract as at the end of the 2015/16 season. No new contract offer reported.
Michael Ihiekwe: CONTRACT OFFERED
Offered a new contract on 6th May – has not yet signed.
Liam Hogan: LEFT CLUB
Signed a one-year contract with Gateshead on 17th May
Marcus Holness: RELEASED
Released on 7th May 2016.
Martin Riley: LEFT CLUB
Signed a one-year contract with Wrexham on 25th May.
Matt Hill: RELEASED
Released on 14th May 2016.

Daren Askew: IN CONTRACT
Signed a one-year professional contract on 3rd May and is now in contract until the end of the 2016/17 season.
Jake Kirby: IN CONTRACT
Signed a new two-year contract extension in the summer of 2014 and is now in contract until the end of the 2016/17 season.
Jay Harris: IN CONTRACT
Signed a new two-year contract on 5th April 2016 and is now in contract until the end of the 2017/18 season.
Lois Maynard: IN CONTRACT
Signed a two-year contract in the summer of 2015 and is in contract until the end of 2016/17 season.
Mitch Duggan: IN CONTRACT
Signed a new one-year contract on 3rd May 2016 and is now in contract until the end of the 2016/17 season.
Steven Jennings: IN CONTRACT
Signed a new one-year contract on 31st May 2016 and is now in contract until the end of the 2016/17 season.
Adam Mekki: CONTRACT OFFERED
Offered a new contract on 6th May – has not yet signed.
Jack Mackreth: OUT OF CONTRACT
Signed a contract until the end of 2015/16 season in January 2016. No new contract offer reported.
Ben Jago: RELEASED
Released on 3rd May 2016.
Liam Davies: RELEASED
Released on 3rd May 2016.
Strikers:
Andy Cook: SIGNED
Signed a two-year contract on 24th May and is in contract until the end of 2017/18 season.
Cole Stockton: IN CONTRACT
Signed a three-year contract in the summer of 2014 and is in contract until the end of 2016/17 season.
James Norwood: IN CONTRACT
Signed a two-year contract in the summer of 2015 and is in contract until the end of 2016/17 season.
Sam Illesanmi: IN CONTRACT
Signed a one-year professional contract on 3rd May and is now in contract until the end of the 2016/17 season.

Signed a one-year professional contract on 3rd May and is now in contract until the end of the 2016/17 season.
Jonathon Margetts: OUT OF CONTRACT

Gary Taylor-Fletcher: RELEASED
Released on 7th May 2016.
Michael Higdon: RELEASED
Released on 7th May 2016.

From what I understand he wanted to leave and felt a bit restless, but that had happened at previous clubs I seem to recall.
I agree with you though, that managerial stability is necessary at clubs. Managers like Flynn, Moyes, Robinson and Gradi at clubs like Wrexham, Everton, MK Dons and Crewe proved it, as did Liverpool with someone like Shankley turning them from okay to whay hey.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
Wouldn't be completely against him being given another chance, but he needs to work on his final ball.

Indeed Paz and I actually missed him off the original article last week as I just forgot completely about him and didn't see him (but may have missed him) on the Squad profiles on the Official Site.
Mekki is the key one we're all waiting on now really! We need to get him signed up asap!

I'd say Iheikwe over Mekki personally.
I think too much hype was built around Adam. Don't get me wrong, his positive running and ability to beat a man was good to see, but as with a number of players, the final ball was lacking at times. He's got a lot of potential, but in complete honesty, there are better out there.
Letting him go is a waste, i wish we could let Brabin Go.

I agree with you completely Paz, definitely overhyped/overrated by the fans to a huge degree but would I have him out wide ahead of any of the others we have currently? Absolutely I would!

The mob comment was as in mob rule. Where instead of the owners making a decision it's left to a large chunk of the fans. Who after seeing their side turned over by a club with half a stadium and a plumber upfront make what you could argue is a rash sometimes poorly judged decision.

Would love to see us play with Mekki on the right and Kirby on the left next year, be like a poor mans version of Nevin and Morrisey.
I'm Sure the writer of the post with an aquatic nature knows better than me, but did we not release Ridehall??
