Tranmere announce the loan signing of Luton Town defender Steve McNulty…..

After rumours re-surfaced over the weekend, Tranmere have today confirmed the loan signing of Luton Town defender Steve McNulty with a view to a permanent transfer in the future.

32-year-old McNulty, who was born in Liverpool, is known to be a commanding centre-back and brings a wealth of experience with him having won promotion on four occasions with three different clubs.

Whilst at Barrow, he captained the Cumbrian side to promotion into the Conference, before moving from there and joining Fleetwood Town where he lead them from the Conference North into the Football League.

A move to Luton then followed where he assisted the Hatters to promotion from the Conference into the Football League at the end of the 2013-14 season and during his time at Kenilworth Road he also became club captain.

This season so far, McNulty has made twelve appearances for the League Two side, picking up three yellow cards in the process.

Speaking of the signing of McNulty, Rovers Manager Gary Brabin said…..

“This signing is a big plus for us. Steve is a local lad, a leader and was in the League Two Team of the Year last season.  He is the type of player and character that we want at the Club and I think it strengthens our squad even more so I’m delighted to be able to bring him here.”

Total Tranmere would like to welcome Steve to Tranmere and we look forward to seeing him in action for the Superwhites!

I think this signing could be one of the best...he was the best player on the pitch when we played Luton last year..I was very impressed with every aspect of his game....well done Gary and Marc.

Drop Riley, I like Maynard at RB, so possibly release holness, and loan out ihiekwe to keep him match fit

Decent signing, but feel for whoever loses his place . But guess he might rotate

He may not have to rotate for a whole depending on how long Hogan is out.

Hill, Sutton, McNulty Maynard will do just fine for now!

I agree about Maynard but not about Riley. But at the end of the day,it's Brabin's choice. He's the manager.

Didn't he play the last part of the Eastleigh game with a suspected hairline crack[or something similar]in one of his toes?

We are going to win the league! He is class simple as and I can not see us sitting in this position having to qualify for the fa cup next season as we will be a league club again!!! Tramps like Wrexham Chester southport just can't compete with our pulling power of the best players. Enjoy non league football forever ta mugs!!!

I have said this before that we are not used to being a big club. But while we do have the pulling power we have to capitalise on it and use it to our advantage. If we don't go up this season we have next season max to still have the pulling power to get the top players at this level.
After that I think we will struggle. But I am optimistic that we will go on one massive run of wins and become league champions which in all my years of supporting have never witnessed. Seen promotions cup finals playoffs etc but not league winners.

Have we been sponsored by High and Mighty or something! The averagevfat percentage has just gone up this week. He dominated last year at PP.

Is it the money from Max, now it has been agreed, that's allowed us to sign him and GTF? I'm not complaining for one no matter where it came from. It really looks like this is an attempt to dominate from here in and win the league.

That's not really a clever thing to say because if Tranmere failed, even in the playoffs and Wrexham got through it would make Tranmere look stupid, especially if it was Wrexham that did the deed.

It could be, but then Brabin said a couple of months back he had not spent all the budget, to allow for a few additions later on if needs be and also the budget will have been topped up since then, by one or two new sponsorship's, some added corporate income and part of the match revenues.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

While like everybody else i'm chuffed with this signing the fact that people are quoting his performance at Prenton Park last season as a example of his talents should be taken with caution as Stephen Hawking would have looked good against that rabble last season.

Yeah as mentioned elsewhere on here there's a rumour he's had an Op on his toe as I know he's been playing only due to having injections before the games for the past few games which can't be doing him any good long term!
