Latest Edition of Rovers Fanzine Still on Sale

The latest edition of the Tranmere Rovers fanzine, "Give Us An R" is still available to purchase at all of Rovers' upcoming home and away matches.......
With the new football season now well underway, there is another brand new edition of the popular Tranmere Rovers Fanzine “Give Us An R” on sale at all Rovers matches both home and away.
The current issue is a landmark one for two reasons, the first is that it is issue number 100 and the second is that for the first time in it's 23 year history, the Mag is entirely in colour from start to finish. The front cover photo, as well as marking the 100 issue landmark, also shows a pile of Rovers player celebrating Jay Harris' opening goal of the season at home to Woking.
Issue 100 went on sale for the first time prior to Tranmere's 2-0 home win over Chester just over a week ago and will be available for fans to purchase at all remaining Rovers home and away games in the coming weeks, including Tuesday night's home game against Aldershot Town and at Cheltenham next Saturday as well as the games in early August.
The inside of the front cover features images from the 0-0 draw away at Braintree Town earlier in the season whilst away games that are featured in the regular ‘Away Days’ articles in this issue are reviews of the trips Gateshead, Braintree Town and Altrincham which of course resulted in a win, a draw and a defeat respectively.
As usual there are also all of the regularly featured contributions such as 'The Hairdryer Treatment' (Ryan Ferguson), 'The Jones Journal' (Trevor Jones), Total Tranmere's very own Deadly Submarine, Matthew Jones and Liam Scarth’s European Football piece.
Ryan’s piece looks at Rovers' current situation and status in football in general as part of a reflection on Tranmere's 2-0 home defeat to Boreham Wood in mid-August whilst Liam Scarth takes a break from reporting on his European football adventures to write about the newly formed Tranmere Rovers Supporters Club and what they can offer to help promote the Club in the future.
Trevor Jones gives his usual in-depth look at recent Rovers matches that have taken place since the last edition of GUAR went on sale, this time reviewing matches from the pre-season friendly away a Welsh side Bangor City to the aforementioned defeat at home to Boreham Wood..
Matthew Jones looks at the ridiculous sums of money paid by English Clubs over the summer and up to the close if the transfer window as well as touching on player loyalty (or lack of it) in the highest levels of the modern game.

Now a regular contributor to the Mag, Tom Raybould looks back at a list of Tranmere players that didn't 'cut the mustard' with Rovers whilst former Rovers Youth Team player James Ashcroft looks at tactics and formations in different parts of the world and why some work in certain countries and perhaps not in others..
Alongside the usual ‘Anorak Quiz’ (Guess the Grounds) and ‘That 80’s Quiz’ are a number of small and often witty pieces about things related to both Tranmere and football in general including an item originally published in Issue 2 of the Mag called 'Merseyspeak for Visiting Supporters'. There is also a look back to the very first day that GUAR went on sale back in 1992 and guest contributor TT13 tells the story of his ongoing link between Cole Stockton and a pint of Guinness!
If you've never read GUAR before, or you used to read it but have since lapsed, why not give it a try. The fanzine is on sale at Tranmere games both home and away with matchday sellers at Prenton Park usually situated on the corner of the Kop and Johnny King Stand and at the opposite corner of the Stadium next to the Johnny King Statue. At away games the Mag is usually on sale at the away turnstiles.
Priced at £2.50, the fanzine is an entertaining read featuring mixed views and opinions on both Rovers related issues and football in general so why not give it a go! This new-look colour issue is certainly worth a look!
