A place for fans of both Rovers and Southport to discuss Tuesday evening's upcoming National League match at Merseyrail Community Stadium in what is Tranmere's second derby game in the space of three days ......
Following last Saturday afternoon's 2-0 home derby win agains Chester, our match discussion thread returns once again as Rovers prepare to play in their second derby game in quick succession as they travel the short distance to face Southport on Tuesday evening. So we have now sold all our tickets for the game, even if its only across the water 1500 is good on a tuesday night is good, am going to say a 3-1 win to us mangan and norword with 2
Another great away following lets hope its not another Altrincham. Play with the same desire and passion as Saturday and we will be moving up this league. Still room for improvement as I thought we sat back a little in the second half and invited Chester to play, I will go for 0-2
2-0 to us, but no penalties given away and continue momentum in second half. No trying to play out the game when we seem safe, we aren't absolutely secure when trying to defend a lead.
Got a bad feeling about this these type of games have been a struggle so far.Get the impression that people think we just have to turn up to get the 3 points but Southport will be well up for this with it being a local derby a couple of ex Rovers players in the line up and the return of Brabin it's going to be a test.

OK, point taken but Chester was a derby, they had several ex. players, and we beat them soundly. Not over confident but it seems like its coming together a bit.
I'm going for 2-1 to us is there any highlights on bt sport can't make the game working nights this week I work with someone who supports southport and he's already thanked us for the 3 points hope it's just blind optimism

Just about this one! We've only win four! We'll be soundly beaten tonight on this evidence without a half time roasting. not sure what the answer is, I've had a bit of a go at Brabin recently but I just don't think we have good enough players, rumours of a dressing room split to. I think we need to accept no playoffs this year, would just like to see some nice stuff being played and no relegation as its a really possibility with four to go down, a hard division to get promoted from and an easy won to drop out I feel.

Does Brabin know why people use them ?? Apart from taking mangan off today due to injury I presume he doesn't like making them... Last week at Chester the subs came on too late and allowed Chester to get back in the game, again tonight no fresh legs around the 70 minute mark of the game, I think this is a massive issue especially when playing the part time teams who's fitness should really be coming into play especially when there's game Saturday, Tuesday then saturday again !!
A point from being 2-0 down is always a bonus but being at that point of the game at half time against a bad team is a poor result !!
We're a Mid table team with below average players !!
Brabin's substitution (however it came about) had an instant impact on the game with Jackson's first touch and Jackson went on to be the second best player after Norwood.
First half we didn't get going but weren't anywhere near deserving to be 2-0 down and second half was he best I thought we've played this season!
Southport settled for a draw even before they went down to ten men (harshly in my opinion) and it was frustrating that we didn't break down a third time.
Ridehalgh, Riley and Margetts all walked to the Shop by the Ground before the game. None of them looked to be limping but I guess some injuries don't show!
We aren't going to win the league I think that's a given, so it therfore doesn't matter wether we finish 2nd or 5th, can only assume this is trotting through Brabins mind, maybe the lack of substitutions is somewhat an attempt to protect a small squad or possibly to do with finances, extra money due on transfers dependant on games or player wage bonus dependant on games played. who knows, only Brabin.
Just got back from the game... awful first half.. some nice play by dawson. Would have taken a point at half time... the red card killed the gane off totally in my opinion. Disagree sub.... the tackle was righ infront of me... two footed... i think red was right decision.
A couple of people in our car on the way back also said exactly the same thing, the red card killed the game.
Fair enough on the red card decision I had the crossbar blocking some of my view of the game over there - I thought I'd seen it clearly but I obviously missed something!
Game of three parts (1)first half abysmal(2) second half first 20 minutes took the game to them and really gave it a go(3) after sending off ran out of ideas never looked like scoring apart from a own goal in fact Southport looked the more likely to nab it at the end.
Poor

2 the moon Been looking at the other results tonight along with positions in the table and I've come to the conclusion that this league is bonkers.
it does seem bonkers, 10 games in and a pattern emerging. weve done well against teams in the top half of the table but on the other hand we have only taken 6 points from the teams that are occupying the last 6 places in the table.

Just seen the so called Southport highlights (I feel dizzy just thinking about the awful video) but yeah I now totally agree the tackle was horrendous and as clear a red card as you'll ever see. Wasn't that clear to see at the time from where I was.
Now if the team can get that second half performance consistently happening in the first half, they'll win a decent amount of games, but playing more cohesively is a task and a half, when you give yourself an uphill climb from 2-3 goals down.
I mean some people might recall a QPR, Port Vale game about 20 years ago, when one team were 4-0 up at half time and the match went 4-4 at full time, but frankly that's not a common occurrence and Tranmere need to solid at the back, especially in the first half, to get momentum going and the more possession you win then obviously more attacks can be built from the back.
At least the point gets them climbing the table. There's still time to get a spurt in form and close on the top 5 and 4 points from 6 is pretty decent, but backing it up with a win on Saturday would be a great boost.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
Yes, I realise I ballsed up on that now and should have put Friday, but I'm so used to Tranmere not playing Friday games for a long time, I forgot it was Friday.
I wonder if Grimsby win and hopefully not, if they will get something like a tin of Salmon as a win bonus?
