When you see the fact they are ahead of teams like Preston, Burnley, Wigan and Blackpool, it does surprise me a little bit, as those bigger budget teams should logically be able to pump more money into youth development, so you'd think their teams should be the better ones and Tranmere might be mid-table or worse.

It's probably worth noting that the lads in the Youth team have, for the most part, been together for nearly 10 years. This crop of youngsters were coached by John Ebbrell before he left to take over the Under 16's at Everton and are generally considered to be a talented bunch. I've watched all their home games this season and they look good. They're at home against Rochdale at Raby on Saturday, 11 a.m. kick off...they're well worth coming to watch.

A massive amount of credit should also be given to the academy coaching staff such as Shaun Garnett who divides his time between assisting GB and overseeing the academy as well as Andy Parkinson who not only looks after the Youth but helps out with Under 16's.

The academy does an incredible job in producing and developing local talent paying coaches only £25 per session (2 x training sessions and match day = £75 per week). It is so, so imperative that the club gets the Solar Campus training complex operational as this excellent facility will go such a long way to getting Rovers back where it belongs because at the moment they are having to train and play home matches on school G3 pitches.

I fully endorse everything said above I didn't realise anyone could go to the youth games on a Saturday mornings I will take time out to go and watch, are the fixtures on line anywhere ? I will try and get there this weekend as I will be busy for the next couple of months hopefully

Yeah....anybody can go along. If you're driving, come off the Clatterbridge roundabout, past Wirral rugby club on the left then straight on towards Willaston. After about half a mile the training ground is on the left just after Wirral physio centre on the right. It's not sign posted so you need to slow down as it's easily missed.

To be honest...I find the youth team so far more entertaining to watch than the first team these days as they're local lads and pay with real passion.

The youth team fixtures are on the clun website...click on 'Team' and there's a drop down menu showing Under 18's

I also go to the Youth home games when the first team are at home the same day and it's well worth a watch particularly at the moment.

I hope to have their fixtures and results on here in the relevant section soon (the League Table in the story above has already been linked to the menu on the left).

Half Man.. have we met at a Youth game? I'm sure I recalled meeting someone from the Forum either at a youth game or pre-season game but couldn't remember if it was you?

How come we are top.on 1/9/15 we were beaten by Wigan 3-1 at home.please explain as I know we beat burnley,Carlisle and ?

Hi is it 11 o clock kick off this morning for the youth game

Sorry only just seen this but yeah all the games are at 11am mate.

They won 3-1 this morning against Rochdale with goals from Jack Fleming, Tolani Omotola and Jay Hunter (penalty)!

Therefore still top of the League!

Yeah called up we look like we have some good prospects and some decent football as well
