Tranmere's Chairman and Owner issues a rallying cry to everyone concerned ahead of eight vital remaining games.....
Tranmere Chairman and Owner Mark Palios today issued a rallying cry to all supporters, staff and players at the Club ahead of eight massive games that will determine which League Rovers are playing in next season. Palios' statement, courtesy of Tranmere Rovers Official Website is as follows...
Despite the best efforts of everyone at the Club and the incredible support throughout a torrid season, we are going into the last 6 weeks of the campaign only just out of the relegation zone. There are 8 games to go, jobs to do, 8 fights to win and if we win 4 of them, we should be safe. If we don’t, I don’t need to spell out the consequences. NONE of us want that to happen and that is why I am putting out a rallying cry to get everyone behind the Club in this crucial period.
Winning 4 games out of 8 is not easy, but certainly achievable, more so if we are all united in our efforts. I understand that nerves are getting frayed, but now is not the moment to question whether we could have done things differently or to blame individuals for errors – there will be time to analyse what we could have done better at the end of the season. For now, we need to take each game as it comes. Separate out each match from the circumstances and focus on the job to be done each time the whistle blows. Every match is a separate job of work for the players, the manager, the coaching staff and, importantly, the fans.
The players know they must challenge for every ball and show their fighting spirit when the going gets tough, as it undoubtedly will from time to time. The back office staff need to make sure that everything that can be done is in place to support the Manager and the team. We are in a fight and continuing to give wholehearted support is key to securing the Club’s future in the League. And so I am asking every supporter of the Club – from the die-hard travelling fans to the thousands who follow the Club but don’t come every week, to play their part and be our 12th man for every game.
If we get a set-back, we have to move on and get back behind the team for the next game. Come to the matches; bring your kids, bring your friends. Make some noise. Be loud, be proud and show that Wirral will fight for its team.
This is the time to stand up and be counted. Together we are always stronger and only together can we do this.

come on -where are the fans wo went to Wembley-28,000 the ones v Exeter all those years ago,come on this is our club lets rally round and support them till the end,i,m coming back from Mallorca for 3 games.we all love them lets show it
Should plaster that message all over the local papers and local radio stations SWA
I absolutely endorse this rallying cry..now is NOT the time to point blame but to support the team until the end.SWA.
its a great shout at the right time whilst we can still save ourselves, fair play to radio merseyside as usual they were all over it last night at 5.30, for me its a 2 way street, if your not hard core i can see why you have drifted away, its only us left, with a nod to the great man johnny king............. its our last stand, weve circled the wagons and were desperatley in need of the cavalry
In 1987, Rovers had to win the last game of the season against Exeter to avoid becoming the first team to be relegated into the Conference. The average home gate that season was around 1300. On that day, over 7000 turned up (some just ghouls admittedly) and no doubt that helped Rovers to a nervous 1-0 win. The odds that day were heavily stacked against Rovers. Peter Johnson and Johnny King had just taken over but were powerless to strengthen the squad at that stage due to the transfer window that existed at the time. You would not have given tuppence for their chances given the team that Johnny King was forced to play which was full of youngsters and players that were not fully fit. Somehow, they managed to snatch the win and the rest is history. It would be great if the stadium was filled now with over 10,000 per game which I'm sure would help to lift the players. Perhaps the hard core supporters could try to "bring a friend with them" which would sustantially increase the gate. Is this achievable?
