Rover Sign Striker Hugill on Emergency Loan

Rovers Manager Micky Adams delves into the loan market to sign former Port Vale striker........

 

 

 

 

 

Tranmere have today moved to cover injuries in the squad by signing Preston North End striker Jordan Hugill on a month long emergency loan deal ahead of Saturday's crucial away trip to Cheltenham Town.

The 22 year old forward, originally from Middlesbrough, made his name in the non-Leagues in the early part of his career, playing for Seaham Redstar, Whitby Town, Consett and Marske United over a five year spell before signing for Micky Adams' Port Vale in 2013.

Hugill made twenty four appearances for the Potteries side, scoring five goals for them whilst also scoring five goals in seven appearances on loan at Conference side Gateshead in the early part of the 2013/14 season.

Preston's Jordan Hugill has signed for Rovers on a month long emergency loan deal

His record was enough to entice interest from Preston North End for whom Hugill signed last summer and has made six appearances (four as a substitute), and scoring twice for the Lancashire side.

Speaking of the loan deal this afternoon, Tranmere Rovers Manager Micky Adams said...

“I’m delighted to be able to bring Jordan to the Club.  He’s a big, strong lad who will never gives up.  He’s a goalscorer and with Cole Stockton unavailable, is someone who will add to our attacking options.  I’d like to thank Preston North End for letting Jordan join us for a month.”
 
Total Tranmere would like to welcome Jordan to Prenton Park and look forward to hopefully seeing him in action at Whaddon Road this Saturday afternoon for the vital League Two relegation clash against Cheltenham Town.
 
In other news ahead of Saturday's game, Tranmere have confirmed that defender Josh Thompson, who left Tuesday night's game during the second half with a concussion, will miss the trip to Cheltenham.

Just seen on Official Site that we have signed Jordan Hugill, a 22 year old Striker from Preston.

His previous club was Port Vale so obviously M.A knows all about this player and thinks he may have something to offer us?

He's seen as a replacement for the injured Cole Stockton and we have him for an initial one month loan.

Anyone seen him play? Will he offer anything?

He has scored 12 goals in 37 appearances for Port Vale, Gateshead (Loan) and Preston.

The only negative I can see is that he struggles with the fitness levels required to play League Football, unless he's now addressed this issue?

Good point. We must be getting this lad for nothing for this to happen. It is still odd that Hume is only a bit part player though. With all the options available to MA we should be galloping up this league. Come on lads raise your game and give the SWA something to cheer about.

Getting yourselves a good one on loan lads, looked like he was going to,be a permanent fixture in the side till he got injured.

Good strong forward, strong in the air and knows where the goal is. Gave our centre backs a torrid time when he played for port vale at deepdale and scored a cracker.

Win win really we need him to get fitter and he will score goals for you with he right service.

Micky Adams knows him from his time at port vale.

Perhaps Adams is also looking for defensive contributions from his forwards at set pieces, in teh light of goals conceded mid-week.
Doesn't say much for Hume's chances of featuring I am afraid

Jordan Hugill had cartilage operation on his knee in September 2014 was expected to be fit sometime around January 2015 at the time of the operation.

He won't score unless somebody creates a decent chance for him,something that our midfield seem singularly unable to do with any regularity.

Could be a good signing and scored 5 in 7 for Gateshead, so he could be a decent signing and it's not that far away Preston, so he shouldn't have too many issues in terms of upheaval. He may even be able to commute, so hopefully such things will help him transition and allow hi mot concentrate on what he needs to do.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Totally agree with this. All well and good having options up front, but Jennings and power are not going to create anything. Get Koumas in there with Jenno and Laird and see what happens.

Surely no coincidence we created loads of chances against Accrington with Koumas in the team.
