Tranmere Man of the Match: Shrewsbury Town (H)

Your chance to vote for your Tranmere Man of the Match from Saturday's battling 2-1 home win against previous League leaders Shrewsbury Tow at Prenton Park.......

Following an entertaining League Two encounter at Prenton Park on Saturday afternoon which Rovers won 2-1 thanks to goals from Rory Donnelly and Danny Holmes, we are asking you to vote for you Tranmere Man of the Match from the game as part of our post-match poll series.

Tranmere deservedly took the lead in the 29th minute when excellent work from Marc Laird set up Rory Donnelly to finish well across goal.  Just three minutes later Rovers doubled their lead when Danny Holmes made an excellent tackle in the final third of the pitch and smashed the ball past Leutwiler in the Shrewsbury goal.

After a lengthy break in play for a serious looking injury to Shrewsbury defender Mickey Demetriou which saw him leave the pitch on a stretcher, Rovers fell asleep for a Shrews corner and the lead was halved.  However, Rovers held on through eleven minutes of injury time to earn a vital win and provide a great response to last week's horrendous performance at York.

Laird Marc

Marc Laird was a vital cog in the Rovers midfield against Shrewsbury

Exact same three for me but I'd go Laird, Thompson, Holmes in that order!

Laird closely followed by odjay for me, what a turn around by these two players compared to the beginning of the season. S.W.A

Quick question to everyone....

Would you think it better or worse if instead of polling the whole team each week, I just pick the three I feel are in contention and poll just them?

Would you feel aggrieved if one week your MOTM choice wasnt in the poll?

All views welcome on this - just a thought I had earlier when writing this article

Thanks

Yeah that's the problem as obviously opinions differ and my favourite three may not be the same for others...

...there's no harm (or time difference for me) in polling all players but I just wonder if it may be simpler to do three.

Thanks for the input Hoots!

Not a fan of Laird, but yesterday he put in a good workmanlike effort so MOM for me.

For player of the game for keeping his kit clean goes again to Max Power.

Laird for me as well, taken some stick so far this season but thats the way to answer the critics, should keep his place now.

Thought Powers delivery had improved massively yesterday. Had some decent corners (at last).

Would only cause conflict if we didn't have a choice of all 11 players plus substitutes. Stick to an open choice. Very apparent on here people have different opinions, think would all end up talking about who wasn't included rather than debating the actual motm.

Thanks for the input. I'm inclined to agree
