I will stick my neck out and say 3-0. No logic in this but have a gut feeling we may find our shooting boots and kick start our season. Setting off soon from down south and staying overnight at the Prem Inn in Greasby. Come on Rovers, don't let me down.

Bookies offering 7-4 against us winning so worth a fiver of my hard earned.

Bristol will come for a point, need to consolidate as they have had a worse start than us, good win v Crawley last week but star man off on call up. Will all depend on delivery into the box, can't see them scoring and think we have momentum. Looking for a 1-0 win

I'm not they're left back is necessarily their star man, but I'd go for a 2-0. It's about time they scored 2 in a match, because it's either 1 or 3 when they score and I'd like a bit of that goal difference to be chewed up.

For those going for a Tranmere win by more than one goal we have never been in the lead by more than one goal in a league match all season still i suppose there has to be a first time.

There'll have to be a huge improvement on last Saturday's performance for us to win by any score.

1-1 Lowe an Emmanuel Thomas scoring.

Feel it will be a drab affair, probably a no score draw, which will probably disappoint both teams. That will keep the run going though!

i think we played poor today and max power had an off day should of been subbed

First half was poor apart from a well taken goal. I thought Mooney should have stopped their goal and was surprised to see him get MOM. Still after Goody getting MOM after the MK Dons game nothing should surprise me anymore. Second half we had more confidence and had a go at them. We could well have nicked it.

Shocking first half from both sides-there was only one shot[their goal] in the first half hour and we scored with our only shot of the half. We improved a lot after the break but didn't create many clear chances despite the pressure we had. The best chances fell to Bristol and while was a game we could have won, it was also a game we could have lost.

IMO Ridehalgh and Koumas were our best players,
Baggie[again] and Power our worst.

The two amusing moments were when we in the late part of the first half ,put the ball out of play for the umpteenth time, their fans chanted ''it's just like playing Brazil'' and Moore's reaction when Mooney got given MOM was ''What!!!'' followed by a few choice words.

Well where do I start?
For the most of the first half I expected to be writing about a 3 point trip ala Carlisle but today's it's a point.

So a point in Birkenhead where we saw what City can do (positively) and what City can do (In a frustrating way).
They say football is two halves, well we got that.

Lovely ground, fantastic view for away support, friendly pub opposite the away turnstile in the Prenton Park where I had a chat to some locals - they don't think much of their side lately(doesn't everyone?).

Ok so Tranmere?
They are poor. In fact I'll stick my neck out and say we will not play a worse side than Tranmere Rovers.
We complain about some long balls at Ashton Gate, let me tell you until you see a Ronnie Moore side play, you don't really appreciate what classic hoofball is!!

Tranmere were classic Ronnie Moore. Boot it long, boot it high - we lost 2 balls over the top of the Johnny King stand and managed to hit the roof of a 2 block stand - leave your foot in and it's just horrible football.

So how did we do?
Jekyll and Hyde (again).
First half we set out with Jet partnering Baldock with Shorey pushed up on the left in front of Cunningham.
We started with confidence, back to back wins saw us with a new found belief to play the ball to feet, to players finding space and Tranmere looked ordinary.
Their sparse crowd made no noise and we didn't look troubled until it was no surprise to see us take the lead.

Baldock was marked differently than what we've seen before. It helped too. Moore's sides tend to be big and mark zonally, so before where we've seen Sam lose the ball from close marking he got away several times today.
Ball was played over the top behind the centre half, Sam lost him took it into the penalty area wide on the left and struck a bullet into the far corner in front of the Tranmere end.

Something I've been waiting to see from Baldock for a while.

Then the next 20 mins saw a pattern of City playing it on the deck, Reid trying to spread it wide to the left and right using Gillett to keep it and whenever Tranmere got it they just booted it forward or out. I couldn't see how they'd score .

Then I did see it. One of the few occasions they broke and there was a ball played across, silly @#$%& played but we had men in the box, I couldn't fault them. Then there was a drilled well struck shot either heading out or Parrish would have handled.
It took a nasty deflection and we were 1-1.

Only shot they had taken and completely undeserved.
We then had a spell of pressure but in reality their pressure was hoiking it into our box and trying to fling a body in it.
In fact there was almost a goal but it came from us.

The anonymous JET struck a decent free kick edge of their box tipped around the post by Goliath in goal. Then from the resulting corner Gillett was unlucky to not get a goal.

When the ref blew for half time it was not disconsolate. We'd been sucker punched they didn't deserve it but we had 45 mins where our football should address it.

Unfortunately step forward the frustrating no-confidence Bristol City.
Whether the goal, the crowd, I don't know what but we decided we no longer wanted to play it on the floor and engaged in a battle of hoofball.
Playing long ball with a Ronnie Moore side is a pointless task. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you. Flint and Moloney was heading it high and anywhere, volleying high (Flint booted one out the stand) and we noticeably backed off.

So we invited pressure. While at the time it seemed like we were under pressure there wasn't one real chance I recall them having.
All we ended up doing by sitting back was invite Tranmere to come forward, whip their crowd up and rule ourselves out from going back ahead.

One moment we did play some nice football was when Pack found himself through on the left side inside the penalty area.
Instead of crossing it into the six yard box or shooting , he attempted a ridiculously fancy Johann Cruyff back heel which went straight to them. We were all out of position, Tranmere ran it the length of the pitch put a cross over for Parrish to tip it over to huge Tranmere noise.
Idiocy.
We didn't really attempt to play football again after that.

We did come close near the end JET pulled clear and put it across 6 yard box which best the keeper only for it to be put out last gasp preventing what would have been a certain Bobby Reid goal.

For all their pressure second half it was who had the two best chances with a good save from Baldock by the keeper.

Final whistle was pretty disappointing because everyone could see how poor Tranmere were.
We beat ourselves that second half by not sticking to what we did well first half and sitting back.

The fact Tranmere still didn't really create much other than hustle and bustle corners probably says it most.

The players came over and clapped, we clapped them (not without the odd shout to JET about how lazy he had been).
Good turnout again.

Did we deserve a point or all 3?
Hmmmm, I don't think our second half warranted us leaving here with all but goodness me we should have.....

RONNIE if you can't leave stop indulging yourself with favourites from Rotherham. Those days are gone. You continue to use BAGGIE match after match because YOU think he has talent. Why did three other clubs not renew his contract and not play him after a few games. He is not fast enough, not taLL enough no idea of positioning and why don't his teammates pass him the ball to him - because they have no confidence in him. He had a few chances to score and miskicked on each occasion. He cannot take corners because he is not accurate enough not strong enough and no idea of where to put the ball or himself. He let the team down today .Ronnie still indulges his fancies. It was not until the last ten minutes was he removed. We could have done with a better forward against Bristol , especially in second half when the other wing was showing improvemewnt.Both you and Baggie should go Ronnie

This Kaiser didn't complement us much did he just described us as Classic Ronnie Moore which I found rather amusing because Ino we don't play the most attractive football but it's not as bad as this melt described it.

Didn't have his best game but it's not like he let us down.

I thought the lads did well in the second half. They were poor on the first half and we were lucky to get the equaliser. But we had all the game after the break and lost count of the number of corners we had. On another day we could have won that game comfortably.

Tranmere were better second half and created more chances than City, and I think City were a touch lucky to get a point.

The guy talks about corners in his piece, well then if Tranmere were getting so many corners, maybe their players should have found ways to stop conceding them so much.

Tranmere could have nicked the result in the second half.

I'm more frustrated that the team have got 9 points from the last 6 games and have not moved up even one place. If a team averaged 1.5 points a game all season, they could be top 8 on 69 points.

Hopefully if the team gives that second half style performance in the next two games, they may get something out of both, but it won't be easy.

1-1 prob a fair result. we where shockingly poor in the first half. got better in the second. but still did not create much in the final third. (cant remember their keeper making a save). if ronnie is going to keep playing the 5 in midfield. then 1 or 2 of them or going to have to start pushing on to support lowe. because he is far to isolated up there. there was times when crosses where going in to the box and we have lowe in there on hes own. on the positive side at least with robbo and wallace on the way back hopefully this will improve. koumas had his best game so far. he dident see much of the ball in the first half. but in the second started getting more of the ball and he look a real threat.

A draw was a fair result, as much possession as we had we didn't create that much with it so didn't deserve to win the game.

as said previously, loads of possession but no end product, at half time i`d have taken the point, but have to admit at full time i was gutted, it keeps the unbeaten run going, but i fear that will end soon, wolves and cov away are shocking fixtures, thats why we needed to win on saturday

Haven't seen them so have no idea what they say. But I saw the game and know what transpired. So I stick by my last comment 100%.

You are right in saying they had the best chances though, because they made the most of their (rare) attachs, and we were useless when we got within 20 yards of the goal.

Perhaps if you say that we had 14 shots, you can remind me who had them. Because in the first half we had just one, the goal. I do not believe that we had thirteen shots in the second half-we had quite a few corners but nothing came from any of them.

If you take the first one as an example, they cannot be serious. It might have gone for a throw in but it didn't go at the goal or even for a goal kick. The player would/should be embarrassed if that is classed as a shot.

The accuracy of these stats can be shown with the fact that they also say FT 90 + 10.

Actually, that's an error in the header. The actual text commentary goes up to 90+5.

As for the first shot by Holmes its still a shot isn't it? This was my point, we had shots, we just didn't do anything threatening with them.

Not just his woeful one but even the others in the second half (there's another 13 you know than the one shoi*e one you picked) - none of them really threatened the 'keeper.

And this was my point, we dominated them and created chances we just didn't finish them. We had more opportunities but we made less of them than Bristol City.

We even had 8 corners compared to their 3.

What about the excellent save that Mooney made low down from a free kick from outside the area from Emmanuel-Thomas just before half time? I don't see that in the text commentary.

You mean the one given at 45+0.26?

No. I mean the LEFT footed low shot from OUTSIDE the area[free kick tapped to him]that Mooney got down[LOW] superbly to and tipped around the post.

Why does it matter who had more shots? It's the result what counts 1-1 is a good result but deserved all 3 points....
