Tranmere Rovers v Stevenage Match Discussion Thread
By Deadly Submarine

If you can't make Tranmere's home League game against Stevenage on Saturday afternoon, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend...
Following football even at League One level is pretty expensive these days and no matter how much you love the Rovers, it will sometimes be difficult to make the games in person whether it be the lengthy away trips, or for exiles living elsewhere in the UK or abroad, the home games too.
As a result, for those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, we at Total Tranmere will be providing this match discussion thread for you to discuss developments with the game.
Tranmere of course, host Stevenage in Sky Bet League One on Saturday afternoon so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on? You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been to watch the game live.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.
Stevenage have not made a great start either. If we cannot take 3 points from them then one has to ask who can we beat. Their injury list looks as bad as ours so there can be no one off excuses for anything less than a win.
My heart sys a 2-1 win but my head tells me that we are relegation fodder and 1-1 is more likely
Unlucky today...if the two that hit the post go in then everybody's happy....just needed luck. Another clean sheet and Norwood starting to look more accomplished by the week. There's a long way to go.Keep the faith.
Played well today just didnt get the luck we deserved, Dugdale looked decent, we just need better crosses in the box for Lowe and Akpro. Power was man of the match IMO.
why oh why do we let the opposition play the ball about without getting a tackle in.When we have the ball we are closed down quickly and all to often results in us losing it or the big hoof. No movement; shown up in the second half when no one seemed interested in making something of the throw-ins we won. Is it tactically naïve or do the players lack the drive or intelligence.
August 6th ! so what is the point you're making ? since then drawn 2 and lost 2 ! one of the defeats was a 0 - 5 Mauling ! clean sheet today with another assembled side missing players with great skill and ability like Robbo and Koumas, but for mad Ref could have 1, 2, or even perhapse 3 pens, two times we hit the woodwork against a Svnge side that took or neighbours from over the water to extra time in the Cup.
Yet some of you have to find thing to cry about.
don't buy the pen's at all....1st half defender got ball, lowe went down to easy for 2nd and ash was sandwich by 2 players never get given....
I long for the day we create a chance with some nice passing and movement through the middle rather than hopeful balls forward and crosses lumped into the box.
Agree about the penos. Lowe kept going down in the box and was just surprised the ref didn't book him. Not saying I'd be complaining if he'd won us another peno though.
Thought they were a poor side. We didn't play bad. Just think we lacked spark and really missed Robbo's creativity today. Crowd were flat and that didn't help.
We have a threadbare squad and unfortunately it shows. Thought Max and Holmes were our best players. Mooney looked solid and confident. Credit to the lads he didn't have a save to make. Rowe has a good first touch but doesn't seem to get on the ball enough. Agree we need to practice throw ins- movement was poor.

Having just arrived home back down south with the mrs who attended her first game at PP I was amazed at the complete lack of atmosphere at todays game. Very little vocal support what so ever, in fact a morgue at midnight has more noise. The few Stevenage supporters were more vocal. I'm sure this must rub off on the team as it must be like playing a game behind closed doors. Also we really need to get back to basics like how to take a throw in, close players down and chase every loose ball. Having said that I thought we were unlucky not to win as we were slightly the better of two poor sides. Thankfully the mrs does not no any differance and she is dragging me back up next Saturday.
We were much better than our last home league match and most of the Oldham match. Unlucky with the two shots that hit the post and near misses late in the first half from Atkinson and Horwood.
Dugdale played well but he was never really under any great pressure as Stevenage were pretty poor throughout and we should have won. We huffed and puffed but couldn't blow the house down.
None of the penalty claims were penalties.Lowe has still not received any decent service since he has been signed but both he and JLAA went to ground too easily.
Atkinson should shoot more often as he has an excellent shot. Was disappointed with Tommo as he never really got himself into positions where he could put in his usually very decent crosses but thought that Cole not Sodje should have been his replacement.
AND FINALLY[this deserves capitals]THE BOOING OF ASH TAYLOR ONTO THE PITCH WAS AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE. THE PERPETRATORS SHOULD BE THROWN OUT AND BANNED.

I did say when was the last time we won in the LEAGUE at home, not the league cup, alls i wana know is were is our goals coming from, no creativity from midfield, atkinson, power and rowe all seem to be the same type of player, can anyone answer why jake kirby wasnt on the bench ??
mal again Could be worse, could be a Sheffield United supporter
This is so true we could be Sheff Utd fan but over the next weeks one of us will move up the league and with our shortcomings and no money bet it will not be us,with Sheff Utd having HRH Prince from Saudi Arabia now on board and bigger pockets than we have suspect in the short term new loans going there and over the next couple of years leave us well behind.
Power and Rowe both better in attacking role and I think both would create/score if played at the attacking man in the formation we used v bolton or a 3 man midfield.
Hit the post twice, Horwood's free kick just before half-time hit the side netting (amny thought it was in).
Going forward I thought we looked good but perhaps just some decision making in the final part of the pitch let us down.
Admittedly Stevenage were poor but there were a number of positives, including another good performance from Horwood and consecutive clean sheets in the League (I'd have taken that after the first three games).
Also think Atkinson looks very good too in midfield.
Other positives, 7th place team only has 8 points. No team below 6 th has won more than 2 games. It's a fairly even bunch of teams in this league so far. Leyton Orient will fall by the wayside just like they did last time they shot out of the blocks.
