Tranmere confirm eight pre-season games, seven of which are away from home in preparation for the 2013/14 League One campaign.....
Following the recent trickle of announcements regarding pre-season friendly games for Tranmere ahead of the 2013/14 League One campaign, the full list of pre-season matches has today been confirmed with eight games in total and only one of those being at home.
A home friendly against Championship side Burnley and an away trip to Wrexham are the pick of the friendly matches in the upcoming pre-season campaign with the regular visits to Cammell Laird, Heswall and Marine also thrown in to the mix once again. Other away matches are at Altrincham and Accrington Stanley as well as Welsh side Rhyl.
The League One season begins earlier than usual this year on 3rd August meaning that all of Rovers' pre-season games will take place in July with the last being the trip to Wrexham's Racecourse Ground on 27th July. just a week before the season begins!
Three of those are the same anyway, which was to be expected, but the others are good standard fayre. Apparently all but one are not being played on the stadium pitch, to enable pitch care by ground staff to be bolstered.
I do admit though, the usual Premier league XI not being on the menu, is a little surprising.

burnley a decent game, would rather play chester than wrexham. why no prem club friendley !!!. are there no decent european clubs coming to these shores so to get a decent gate at prenton park !!!.
with andy Q as groundsman, the only way to save the rovers pitch will be not to play on it next season.
It's down to money. Most championship and prem are still fine even in the winter. It's because they have a massive team working on it and underground heating. We should be looking to move all youth and reserve games to another ground to save the pitch........
Heya all
Long time !!!
Looking forward to this season with Nicky not buying suprise season tickets like last year!
Obviously with commotments wont be doing every home and away game but will be back to most again
Specialy looking forward to the Wrexham pre - season, as an interest in both.
See you all soon
League One side Notts County have pulled off a major coup by securing a home friendly against Champions League quarter-finalists Galatasaray.
The Turkish giants boast a side including Chelsea legend Didier Drogba and Dutch superstar Wesley Sneijder and will head to Meadow Lane on Tuesday, July 16.
And a week later they're playing Rayo Vallecano!!!
Galatasary would have been better playing Sheffield FC at one of the two big Sheffield grounds and cut the grounde owners in 10% of the gate, because they'd still get all the advertising and the food, drink and any programme sales if they sold any programmes.
That would be good for a small club financially.
However it must be observed that Galatasary could always field a load of kids and a third choice keeper, not necessarily multi-million selling stars.
