Oldham Athletic (H) Live Updates and Match Discussion

By Deadly Submarine
March 7 2013

If you can't make Tranmere's game at home to Oldham Athletic in NPower League One on Saturday afternoon, why not follow our live match updates right here and join in the banter right and with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend......

Following football even at League One level is pretty expensive these days and no matter how much you love the Rovers, it will sometimes be difficult to make the games in person whether it be the lengthy away trips, or for exiles living elsewhere in the UK or abroad, the home games too.

As a result, for those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, we at Total Tranmere will not only be providing this match discussion thread for you to discuss developments with the game, but in a brand new feature we will also be providing a live updates service from the game which will include team line-ups, score updates and also pictures and snippets live from the game.

Stadium - Tranmere Rovers (Day)

Tranmere of course, host Oldham Athletic in NPower League One on Saturday afternoon, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on? You could use our live updates service to keep tabs on the action at the game whilst discussing all the talking points right here on our discussion thread. You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been to watch the game live.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use. To follow our live match updates, click on the link below and select the link for the Oldham Athletic game from the list.

Akpro upfront with Ronnie.

He used to be striker with 22 in one season I believe, so he should be good for the odd goal or two still (Sm7).

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Why would you start Kay ahead of Goodison? We need height and strength against Iwelumo

Kay has mightly impressed me, also Ash on Iwelumo, Kay on Baxter, Zoum on Montano and Holmes on Croft, should cover all of their attacking threat

It's up to whichever team we are able to put out to show their metal against Oldham and the remaining 9 games.
For me we need to get the ball down play little 1-2's,get on the overlap and get the crosses in early.Above all
there has to be enough players in the box looking to get on the end of the crosses, both near and far post.I would encourage the wide players to get to the byline, pulling back the ball diagonally across the box as the most effective against defenders. We need to stop hitting the ball long and keep a short passing quick tempo.
Simples really! Let's play to our strengths.

sorry lads and girls i think we will get beat today, we have a injury hit squad and down to the bare bones, we are missing to many good players, i hope we win but, we will have to score more than 2 goals

Todays game is just what the doctor orderd, it wasnt the best performance of the season but it was what was needed, abit of quality here and there but alot of grit and steel and a clean sheet should do fonners a world of good. What a day it has been for us, with most the other teams around us Really impressed with power today.

Well what an important win that could be! Once again, back to within one win of the top two. We ground it out, battled hard, got what has been a rare clean sheet of late and picked up the three points. I'd be happy with nine more of them!

Very happy with everything except sponsors MOM (again!). Thought Holmes played well , but Ash and Goodo were phenomenal, Ash had Smith in his pocket all game and if "world class" defenders ( Jagielka, Skrtel, Carragher and Distin ) were all beaten by him, is Ash best CB in the world? Serious note though, as said before we didn't play too well, plays often didn't link, crosses too close to keeper, but the pitch suited a hoofball side like Oldham more, and aside from JLAA's blatant handball, I can't remember a major defensive error all game, so job well done, now lets fix our GD

there is a twisted part of me that enjoys fixtures at the tail end of the season, the lower clubs just seem to find a tad more ! makes it hard to predict, and what looks on paper?!?

I thought Goodison was atrocious in the first half but very good in the second half apart from one mistake. But at the end of the day,it was three vital points on an absolutely horrendous pitch which made pretty football and faffing around at the back a very bad idea.Great goal from Max-it didn't deserve to be part of a match like that.

would tend to agree the games are so hard to predict.

Was a battling performance today on a difficult surface. Was good to get the win, enjoyed the player celebrations in front of the kp at the end and loved the fact we ended with 5 home grown players on the pitch

Your post will be on this thread somewhere having been merged.

I do a match discussion thread for a reason and its not so that we can have four other people start new threads about the same game!!!

Any Oldham related threads that were started elsewhere will have been moved into here.

yeah this time of the season it's all about results. Apparently Sidibe was training on Friday and hr was the focal point of the attack so strange that he didn't even make the bench. Maybe Ronnie thought not worth risking him but don't be suprised to see him at Walsall. Really disappointed with JLAA again.

It was 3 vital points and needs to be seen as just that.As a performance it was not convincing and it would not have taken much for us to have yet again lost points.

In our current situation it is as much about grounding out results as we hope to get players fit.In all honesty Oldham did not impress although the pitch would not have helped either side. I share the view of those disappointed with AA, hopefully he is still working back to fitness but he looked laboured.
I cannot see the claim for Goodison as man of the match. He made 3 very casual errors that on another day could have lost points and this marred an otherwise good individual performance. Taylor was the better of the two.
With fixtures coming up I just hope that we can get something out of difficult games at MK and Walsall, against whom the likes of Correy and Amoo could be more exposed

I agree particularly in the first half. And it was at least 3.If it had been Daniels, certain sections of our ''support'' would have crucified him for it.

agreed Hoots. We all love Goody but Daniels would have been slaughtered by the fans!
