Tranmere Rovers v Preston North End Match Discussion
By Deadly Submarine
March 13 2012
If you can't make Tranmere's game at home to Preston North End on Tuesday evening, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend......
For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the more costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.
The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match analysis.
Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game as well as a half-time report on how the game is going for the benefit of those who are unable to make it.
Tranmere of course host Preston North End on Tuesday night in NPower League One so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?
Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.
You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.
Admin staff will try and add the team and updates on the game on this thread where possible whilst there will also be our usual update service from our Twitter feed @totaltranmere so if you are not already following us it may be worth doing so!
Praying for a win... just looked at the table too. A win would put us roughly 14th dependant on other fixtures. Couldn't have even have dreamed of that a fortnight ago.
Great win tonight... and Ronnie does in 3 games what Les couldn't do in 3 seasons... win from a goal down!
Wonder what odds I'd get on us scraping the playoffs? Win the next 2 games and we've got an outside chance with the way the league is shaping right now!
Great performance last night and, best of all, a really entertaining game with the crowd getting fully behind the team. The long winless run has left me a bag of nerves and I was convinced that Preston were going to score every time they got the ball. It wasn't until I got back and thought about the game that I realised that they didn't even create any chances apart from the goal and the shot that Ash blocked.
Robbo and Goodison were both magnificent. Goodison is currently playing some of the best football he's produced for us - not only imperious in defence but also building attacks from the back with some great passes (one cross field pass in particular to Akins was superb). The skill for the winning goal was sublime. Ash also played a great game.
Brunt and Enoch were both excellent in the first half (admittedly helped by some incredibly slow Preston defenders). If they'd kept up that level throughout the game we'd have won by more but they obviously tired in the second half. Hopefully more games will improve Enoch's fitness levels and teach Brunt how to conserve his energy just a little.
Preston are a strange team. They had four or five players that seemed to be able to walz around our players like they weren't there but never produced a dangerous ball. Only decent passed were from Hume and they were sideways.
Overally a great evening. Maybe, just maybe, we can produce an upset on Saturday.

Very enjoyable game-excellent well deserved result. But let's take one game at a time and not get carried away. 6 of our last 10 games are away?
We have picked up 7 points in 7 days. Made up with that. Question you have to ask is would we have got this had Les still been in charge? I reckon not.
Its refreshing to see us attack teams at home and to make other teams think about stopping us rather than the other way round. I am confident we will see a good return on our home form.
Away from home is unchartered territory under Ronnie's Return and it couldnt be trickier. We need to look at winning home games and picking something up away from home. Confidence is an amazing thing and the lads will be right up for Saturday while Sheff United may be unsure what exactly to expect. Reckon this good run may continue and wouldnt be surprised to see Enoch bag another.
Can I also ask a question about another thread that was on here the other week about players not being good enough. Do people still hold the same opinions or are they now thinking it may actually be down to who was giving the orders?
Perhaps after Saturday`s win it may have been a bigger gate last night if only the Liverpool v Everton game had not been on last night with it also being on television,it was a dry night perhaps a bit cool but nothing to write home about so the extra 800 to 1000 may have come to watch Tranmere v Preston but it was unfortunate that due to a League Cup Final the Derby game had to be moved and it was Rovers misfortune it was played last night on the positive side if it had been played(the Tranmere v Preston)when it should have been we might have not got the same result under Les but we will never know that so our gain in this was the three points last night and we need these to get to that 50+mark onwards and upwards.
Huge result last night as it was our game in hand and extended the gap over the bottom four. I felt 7 points out of these three home games was needed and we have got them so you have got to be happy.
The players just seem to be enjoying their football, which I don't think they were before Ronnie came back. To get anything on Saturday is a big ask, and our home form from now until the end of the season will be vital.
50 points is our target which equates to 3 wins. Four matches at home: Exeter, Stevenage, Hartlepool and Scunthorpe.
The away games include Sheffield Utd, MK Dons and Colchester with Rochdale, Bury, Walsall from "our neck of the League". I'm feeling much more optimistic after the adoption of 4-4-2 and the spirit shown by all the players in the last three games. Optimistic enough to say that I can see us gaining about 15 points from our last 10 games.
Any thoughts?
good performance last night, the back four all had strong games. other that us switching off for the goal preston never really look like they would score. welsh had his best game for a long time(needs to spend more time practicing his shooting tho). ive never really been enochs biggest fan but he was great last night. if we can bring in two wide men and a striker(maybe hume if preston go down !!!). next season should be a lot of fun.
Strange how those who spent a lot of time complaining about Les have disappeared when there are good results. Just watch when we inevitably lose two on the bounce under Ronnie. Thank goodness for those level headed posters on here at present.

It was a tongue in cheek comment, I don't actually believe we can get the playoffs!

Agreed about the moaners staying away now. Taxi for Hugh Jarce anyone?
Cracking result and how long since the last win from behind? Must be 2 years at least. Sheffield United have only gotten 4 points from the last 4 games, losing 2 in a row.
Given what Tranmere did last time and Sheffield United knowing that Tranmere's defence is now backed by attacking momentum, capable of turning games, they surely must be a little concerned at least.
An upset suddenly seems more likey than ever right now.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
