The latest edition of the Tranmere Fanzine 'Give Us An R' is now available to purchase before the upcoming Tranmere games both home and away and is once again an excellent read....

With the new football season now well underway there is now already a second edition for the season of the excellent Rovers Fanzine ‘Give Us an R’ available to purchase and as ever it is well worth a read for any keen Rovers fan who likes to read differing views on the current fortunes of Rovers.

The front cover of the latest issue, which first went on sale at the Huddersfield away game ten days ago,  features Tranmere’s most recent permanent signing Mustafa Tiryaki, taken during the pre-season friendly game at home to Liverpool in early August.  The inside of the front cover features some pictures from the early-season away successes at Leyton Orient and Brentford.

After the usual editorial piece from ‘The Doctor’ which gives an analysis of the start to the season so far as well as a tribute to young  Rovers Fan Anthony Cookson who sadly passed away in late August, the first of four ‘Away Days’ articles covers the visit to Doncaster Rovers in the Carling Cup which Rovers of course lost 3-0 whilst other away games covered in this issue are those at Leyton Orient, Brentford and of course the controversial defeat at Notts County.

Continuing from a similar contribution in the last issue, there is another interesting feature from Tony Coombes about old away grounds and away sections that have become history as time has moved on whilst there is also the usual Anorak Quiz asking you to identify five football grounds from the pictures shown.

Regular columnists Deadly Submarine, ‘The Jones Journal’ the ‘Ridgway Report’ are in evidence once more in this issue whilst there are features on Mustafa Tiryaki and that new song from the Rovers fans about him, a football related take on the Libya news entitled ‘Tripoli X’ and a look in more detail at Rovers’ recent history with Notts County (titled V for Vendetta).

This issue also sees a 2-page letters section whilst the ‘In Black and White’ section looks at the poorness of the 4-4-2 Magazine pre-season predictions based on the season so far and the slightly better outlook in When Saturday Comes from Rovers fan Tristan Browning.  One final feature looks at ‘Toys and Tranmere and takes a look back at the days of Subbuteo!.

On the inside back cover, the ‘Yesterday's Heroes'  features a full colour photo of Pat Nevin who was of course recently interviewed by Total Tranmere, to round off another interesting issue of ‘Give Us an R’.

Priced at just £2.00, Give Us an R is is well worth a read and can be purchased at all Rovers games.  Dave can be found selling the mag outside the visitor's turnstiles at all away games and for home games is usually standing on the patch of wasteground alongside the entrance to the Main Club Car Park (under the sign advertising the next three home matches at Prenton Park) so if you have never purchase it before why not give it a try?

Dave will be selling the latest issue at the upcoming away games at Preston and Charlton.
