After his Tranmere side drew 0-0 at home to Yeovil Town on Saturday afternoon, Rovers Boss Les Parry thought the result was the fairest one on the basis of the way the game went.......
After Tranmere's 0-0 home draw with Yeovil Town on Saturday afternoon, Manager Les Parry reflected that the result was a fair one on the balance of the game but has been left with the need to dip into the loan market after yet more injuries hit the squad during the game.
Les told Tranmere Player after the game....
"I think we've got to be satisfied with a point, it was a fair result. Yeovil have come here with a game plan, the same game plan as last year. Last time they nicked a goal so at least they didn't do that this time."
"The lads started brightly but got bogged down. In the last 15 minutes of the first half we ran out of ideas and from set plays we had a couple of chances and the odd chance from open play."
"We made a couple of silly mistakes that have gifted them chances and Dave Raven made a magnificent saving tackle."
"When we went 4-4-2 we went backwards. We saw less of the ball and were less of an attacking threat but I think that's four clean sheets in six league games which is good. If you keep a clean sheet you don't lose a game. We've got a couple of difficult games coming up so that sort of defending will come in handy."
Speaking of the injury crisis mounting up at Prenton Park, Parry added...
"Mark McChrystal is in a cast for a month, he's going to be out for at least three months, Andy Robinson is not quite as bad as we thought so we might get him back in three, maybe four weeks."
"Hopefully Adam McGurk will be available for next week, we've just got to step his training up, and we've not really looked at Martin Devaney yet."
"It's not great but it's part of the game. For me, the biggest problem might be Ian Goodison. He's feeling it up in his stomach and that would cause us a problem.
"There's a good chance I'll bring somebody in this week, even two. If Ian is no good I'll bring a centre half in as well. I'll look for that Andy Robinson type, that type of midfielder in the hole. So we'll be looking this week and definitely bringing at least one in."

Anyone can say oh the opposition were going to grind out a result, but what is that exactly?
4-5-1, 5-4-1, 3-5-1. Also he might have changed things a bit more if he'd had certain players available, but he might have been forced to alter what he would have liked to have done.
Today what Yeovil did was what they felt necessary and how Tranmere responded wasn't ideal, but they kept a clean sheet and Huddersfield conceded in a 1-1, so Tranmere can go into that game, knowing they have 4 clean sheets in 6 games and Sheffield United didn't get a hat full against Tranmere, so it's still a positive scenario for me.

Prior to the game, if they had played 5 teams that are in the bottom 12 right now, they might be 2-3 points better off and look half way decent.
Their average for points before that game was 0.8 compared to Tranmere's 2.
Sustaining such an average, would yield about 37 league points come May and I don't think they're that weak to be honest.

My problem with Saturdays formation/selections are if we are going to start 433 then cannot have poor Muzzy stuck out wide. Cannot have two target men and force one of them to play on the wing. I think he was played out wide to win headers against their dwarf left back. However when he did flick it on, the others where miles away. I would say that if we insist on 433 then Akins should have started. If Enoch and Muzzy are in the same team it must be 442 from the start of the game.
(Also have to say that Muzzy seems to be winning more headers than Enoch this season, perhaps Enoch not yet 100% fit??)
