Goals in each half from Robbie Weir and Andy Robinson handed Tranmere another away win as Brentford fell 2-0 to Tranmere at Griffin Park on Saturday afternoon.....

Brentford 0 - 1 Tranmere Rovers
Weir 28
Robinson 46
Attendance: 5,381

Tranmere put out a statement of intent yesterday afternoon with a comprehensive 2-0 victory away at Brentford.
The Bees are many people’s dark horses for promotion, but after today Tranmere suggested that that those predictions might well be misplaced.
Robbie Weir gave the visitors a first half lead before Andy Robinson fired in a second in a comfortable display, ensuring Tranmere achieved ten points from fifteen available so far this season.
Les Parry made two changes to the side that held Sheffield United last week with David Raven returning from suspension at right back in place of Michael Kay and Mustafa Tiryaki selected upfront ahead of Enoch Showunmi following his midweek hat-trick for the reserves meaning Rovers lined up as follows....
Fon Williams
Raven, McChrystal, Goodison, Buchanan
Akins, Weir, Welsh, Robinson, Devaney
Tiryaki
On the back of their 5-0 victory over Leyton Orient last weekend, Brentford were full of confidence going into the game but it was Rovers who made the early running with Andy Robinson’s free kick testing Bees stopper Richard Lee.
Robbie Weir and Martin Devaney both missed the target with efforts in the early encounters as Rovers dominated the early period of the game and just before the half hour mark, Rovers were rewarded for their bright start with the lead when the impressive Robinson crossed superbly for Robbie Weir to head home.

Robbie Weir (seen here vs Brighton last season) headed Rovers in front
Brentford could have been level before the break when Mark McChrystal’s poor back past sent Clayton Donaldson clean through, but his effort was kept out superbly one-on-one by Owain Fon Williams.
Mustafa Tiryaki tested Lee shortly before Gary Alexander sent a looping volley onto the top of the bar and behind to esnure Rovers deservedly lead the game at half time.
Half Time: Brentford 0 - 1 Tranmere Rovers
The second half was only a minute old when Rovers doubled their advantage and cancelled out almost everything Brentford Manager Uwe Rosler will have said to his team at half-time.
Owain Fon Williams launched a long kick which found Andy Robinson and the midfielder fired an unstoppable curling finish past Lee.
Saunders then shot over for Brentford before Devaney was denied twice at the other end. Joss Labadie tested Lee with a 30 yard drive, before fon Williams produced a stunning double save to deny Donaldson and later Mike Grella.
Rovers had their chances to make the result more comfortable and fully deserved their 2-0 victory.
Full Time: Brentford 0 - 2 Tranmere Rovers

Andy Robinson
A goal and an assist from Robinson doesn't even tell the whole story as he ran the midfield superbly with great passing and vision at times. His quality in front of goal killed the game off and Rovers were able to remain comfortable thereafter.
