After the 1-1 draw at Prenton Park on Saturday between Tranmere and Sheffield United, Manager Les Parry was delighted in particular with the way his side came from behind to earn a hard fought draw......

Tranmere Manager Les Parry was delighted with the point earned by his side against early pace-setters Sheffield United at Prenton Park on Saturday afternoon and admitted that he thought the result was a fair one for both sides involved.

Parry was also pleased with the way his side battled after going behind which was something Rovers struggled with last season.

Speaking to Tranmere Player, Parry said.......

"I thought it was a fair result. Martin Devaney was on fire in the first 25 minutes, he pulled a couple of saves out of Simmo. After that we stopped being sharp and stopped squeezing and they got back into the game. I thought we'd actually stemmed the tide and got back on top and then they scored."

"We didn't squeeze, we didn't get there and we made it easy for them to pass. To be fair to the lad it was a great strike but I'd have preferred it if it had whacked one of our lads in the face."

"I was disappointed with the way we started the second half. The first ten minutes was dour, neither team took the game by the scruff of the neck. But as the game went on we created more and more and bringing Mustafa on caused them problems." 

"One thing that was levelled at us last year, and we levelled it at our players as well, was that when we went behind in games the number of points we took was very low so we set the lads a target of taking points from games where we went behind and the lads did well today."

"We haven't lost our committment which is good, it's what got us through last season. Now we've got that little bit of that, that bit of quality and we're playing some decent football."

"We played some quality football today, so did they. I'm glad the crowd are enjoying what they're seeing because we're moving forward each season. I just want us to progress in the way we play and I think they're seeing that."

Speaking after the game, Sheffield United Manager Danny Wilson also admitted that he was pleased with a point from the game.  He told the Sheffield United Official Website.....

"You can't win every game, the players are sitting in the dressing room very disappointed with what really is a good hard earned point"

"I thought we battled really well against a very strong physical Tranmere side. They put us under an arial bombardment which we fought off very well."

"I thought Quinny (Stephen Quinn) was brilliant today he got kicked from pillar to post sometimes out there. And he coped admirably.  Tranmere is a very tough place to come as we found out today.  Although the players are disappointed not to have won the game, many teams will leave Prenton park with nothing this season. We are very pleased to remain undefeated."
