Weather Report

A cold and wet day at Peterborough and about what you expect for a February afternoon, so much so that the game was in doubt right up until three hours before kick off and the state of the pitch at kick off showed precisely why.

Crowd

5,774 fans were inside London Road which appears to be one of their lowest home League attendances this season and the atmosphere away from the visiting fans can only be described as quiet aside from the pointless barracking of Tony Warner.

Referee Watch

Grant Hegley (Hertfordshire) - Little to say about the referee in terms of complaints as a game played in tricky conditions somehow still managed to flow reasonably well and the performance of Mr Hegley was certainly far from being the talking point of this game.

Best Moment

Going ahead through John Welsh in the first half after great work by Enoch Showumni was a great moment and made the half-time break a delightful time amongst Rovers fans as they debated whether or not we could hang on to what we had.

Worst Moment

The own goal from Enoch that ultimately sealed the defeat was the low point of the game but any of the five clear chances Rovers wasted in the game could also be pinpointed as bad moments that had a huge effect on the game.

Funniest Moment

A clearance from a Rovers player into the new stand on our left saw it strike one of the advertising boards on the section between the upper and lower tiers of the stand.  This resulted in a shower of broken plastic and a huge piece just missing the Posh fans below.  Perhaps not funny if it had done any damage to anyone...but it didn't!!

Tranmere Man of the Match

Enoch Showumni - Tony Warner, Michael Kay and Mark McChrystal were all excellent as was Joss Labadie but Enoch worked his socks off, often with little reward and deservedly gets the award this time around.

Connections

There were no playing connections between the two sides in this game and the same applies to the Management team too.

Rovers Fans

Loud at times despite there being only around 300 fans in the away section and a handful more in the seated area to the right.  Half-time saw a great atmosphere amongst Rovers fans and the result was not what their support deserved on the day.

Peterborough Fans

Summary

Entertainment Value

On a terribly tricky and churned up pitch, the game was surprisingly entertaining and both teams created decent chances and tried at times to play some decent football.

The reason the Posh fans jeered Warner was because he grabbed Boyd's hair when he tried to gather the ball after the equaliser went in.
