Weather Report

A dry and not too cold day at Prenton Park which given the recent weather this week was a welcome change although as the sun went down and darkness fell the temperature did feel so much colder.

Crowd

4,840 fans were inside Prenton Park with a decent following from the Pilgrims fans who had a very long journey to get to the Wirral and fortunately for Rovers went home disappointed.

Referee Watch

Bobby Madley (W.Yorkshire) - The referee had a relatively quiet and easy game with only two bookings, one of which came deep into injury time for Ian Thomas-Moore but aside from that a performance that merits very little comment this time around.

Best Moment

Dale Jennings' goal was the one moment of magic that the game needed from a Rovers point of view and was well worth waiting for.  Although he had already provided a similar threat a couple of times before in the game, to see him finish his chance off was superb!

Worst Moment

Perhaps not one moment as such but the loss through injury of not just one but two key players for Rovers in Enoch Showumi and Marlon Broomes as well as a knock for Ian Goodison, may prove costly ahead of next week's tri to Notts County.

Tranmere Man of the Match

Dale Jennings - In the last ten minutes of the game, Peter Gulacsi was in inspired form to keep Rovers in front but once again it was yound Dale who had the flair to win the game on a day when no-one particularly stood out for Rovers on the whole.

Connections

There were no connections with the 22 players on the field of play but Luke Summerfield of Plymouth who was out injured is the son of Rovers assistant Manager Kevin Summerfield.

Rovers Fans

Very little noise in this game from the home faithful but perhaps this was because the game was so slow to get going and the ongoing debate will rage about where the best place is for the home fans to be.

Plymouth Fans

The predicted chants of "Green Army" were heard during the game but their struggling team didn't them much to shout about during the game despite a fairly decent following given the distance travelled.

Summary

Another important win at home for Rovers ahead of a really crucial match away at fellow strugglers Notts County which, if they can win, could see Rovers given a comfortable gap between them and the relegation zone below them come 5.00pm.

Entertainment Value

A game that was slow to get going but improved after the break and in particular came to life when Rovers got the goal leaving the visitors chasing the game.
