Once again the Rovers Fanzine ‘Give Us an R’ has another new edition on sale and we at Total Tranmere bring you an exclusive review of what you can expect to find in this latest offering which as ever is a decent read and well worth it’s price tag...

As Rovers fans arrived at Brunton Park in Carlisle on a wet Tuesday evening last week, they were given the first opportunity to buy the latest edition of the excellent Rovers Fanzine ‘Give Us an R’ and once again we at Total Tranmere are able to bring you a sneak preview of what to expect in this edition.

The front cover of Issue 64, which is the third issue for this season so far, features a full colour photo of John Welsh during the pre-season friendly away at Shrewsbury Town whilst the inside of the back cover which as ever features a full colour picture titled ‘Yesterday’s Heroes’, this time features former Rovers, Wrexham and Chester striker Gary Bennett.

Three ‘away days’ are featured in this edition of the Fanzine with the trips to Yeovil, Colchester and Bristol Rovers all covered in great detail and with the usual witty approach not always found in other reviews of away trips.

The regular features from the Paddock Man and Total Tranmere’s very own Deadly Submarine are in evidence as ever along with ‘The Doctor’s’ introductory pages at the beginning of the mag.  In addition to these regular features, there is an interesting  piece from Catherine Witty about money at the top level of football and the attitude of top players towards playing the game or collecting their pay packets every week from the bench.

The usual ‘Anorak Quiz’ of obscurely angled pictures of football Stadiums is once again a feature whilst the fan interview section “You Don’t Have to Be Mad – But it Helps” features Rovers fan Sue Doyle answering the tricky questions.

A feature on Rovers’ near miss in the Masters Grand Final in early Septembe is accompanied by a piece about the recent Wayne Rooney/Manchester United fiasco which of course ended in Rooney staying at Old Trafford.

There are four more small features to complete this edition including a rant at recent Coach Drivers on the official Club Coaches, a look at the visit of the Japanese J-League official’s visit to the home win over Peterborough United, a piece about recent visits of Norwegian fans to Rovers games and a lookat a review of the 1-1 draw with Charlton from an Addicks perspective from one of their websites.

Priced at just £2.00, Give Us an R is is well worth a read and can be purchased at all Rovers games.  Dave can be found selling the mag outside the visitor's turnstiles at all away games and for home games is usually standing on the patch of wasteground alongside the entrance to the Main Club Car Park (under the sign advertising the next three home matches at Prenton Park) so if you have never purchase it before why not give it a try starting with issue at Bournemouth or Bury away games or the upcoming home games next week against Plymouth Argyle and Hartlepool Utd.
