 Weather Report

A bitterly cold and often wet afternoon although we managed to dodge the worst of the showers which came when we were already inside the Ground.  Those Rovers fans arriving late due to the horrendous M6 traffic may not have been so lucky though!

Crowd

3,362 fans were inside Bank's Stadium for this game as Walsall's off the field problems continue and many of the fans continue to stay away in protest at the current people in charge of the Club at Board rather than management level.

Referee Watch

Jon Moss (West Yorkshire) - I can just imagine the Walsall fans saying after the game that the referee was on Rovers' side as a lot of decisions went the way of the visitors but perhaps that is in part down to Rovers' domination inmany areas of the pitch and on the whole the referee had a good game. 

Best Moment

Hard to choose one but I would say the fourth goal scored by John Welsh to seal a fantastic afternoon for Rovers and their fans.  The disbelief at what most of us were witnessing was clear to see in the away crowd.

Worst Moment

Walsall's goal made it 2-1 at the time to Tranmere and could have led to a stirring comeback so there was some worry but in the end there was no need as Rovers got the job done in superb style.

Funniest Moment

Showumni's cool finish for the second goal from a clanger by the Walsall defender which was funny itself but after calmly slotting under Jonny Brain to score Showumni's smug look and reaction was also worth seeing!

Tranmere Man of the Match

Ian Thomas-Moore - Almost all of the starting eleven except perhaps Darville could be in contention for the award today but for his sheer work rate and influence on Rovers' attackI give it to Ian Thomas-Moore although Showumni. Welsh, Jennings and Labadie as well as the defence could also have got the nod.

Connections

There were no ex-Rovers in the Saddlers starting eleven and likewise, Rovers boasted no former Walsall players in their squad for this game.

Rovers Fans

370 Rovers fans were in attendance from Tranmere despite last week's poor home reverse and high priced admission into the Ground and they were given plenty to cheer and made themselves heard throughout.

Summary

Entertainment Value

An entertaining game throughout for Rovers fans although the first half did start slowly intially.  It was after the break though that Rovers came out of the blocks quickly and got the goals they deserved.
