We should be confident with a win against Peterborough and a point against Charlton in the last 3 games. It's just that Yeovil game that's making everyone nervous. If we can start the game awake I think a point is possible. I'd love it if we could match John Barnes points total today. It'd feel like a step in the right direction

Its our away form in the league that worries me not just the yeovil result.

2-0 down after 15 mins, we are a laughing stock. I am sorry but Yoevil and now this, unacceptbable and Feel for the fans who have made the journey. It could end up about 5.

Make that 3, we have conceded 6 goals in the first half hour of the last 2 away games. The physio is in Barnes territory now, not just getting beat but getting hammered.

That sums him up for me, it is like me going Tranmere on champ but in real life. It is a shame that I am saying this about a guy who has served Tranmere so well, but he never should have taken the job. He could have gone out in glory at the end of last season.

We've got one back so Les can pull out the usual "I said to them to win the second half and credit to them they have", maybe because they are playing in second gear and have already won the game you idiot.

Well were third from top in the league of 2nd halves
it`s a pity that were not winning the first bit as well so again were sitting theirbottom the pile with Les stating(no doubt) again we won the second half aint it a pity we are not going for it from the first second of the game get in their faces this can not go on things have to change fast or we are heading for the drop I am like lots of are fans behind Les last year he did well stopping the rot
and just about saving us from the drop but it seem Les is stuck with the way he plans things and it not working mind you it does not help having smaller budget than I had when I play Subbuteo table soccer.

Les is a relection of the clubs plight and not its architect.
It is all too easy to aim the criticism at him BUT he is manager because no one else wanted the job. That is areflection of a board strategy that has nothing to do with the club thriving but is only motivated by how to best serve the interests of the chairman.

It has been clear throughout the summer that we have been putting together a rag bag of a squad who share the common factor of being cheap(inevitable with a pay structure below that of any other club with Rovers support base).It would take an amazing manager to make afist of that and Les is not that. Ofcourse he has tactical limitations, not surprising for it is hard to imagine any other club appointing him as manager. But and it is a big but the primary fault lies not with him.Until this club can get rid of the its obligation to PJ it will continue to decline at any level.His policy has led to gates dropping and a club that looks increasingly shambolic.
Last season we got a get out of jail card but instead of seeing it as an opportunity we have continued in just the same corrosive way.
Tactics on the field are a minor detail,a clutching at straws that with just a bit of adjustment things will be better.Some have the same approach to those injured, yet we struggled when those players where fit.

There is no obvious plan for this club and it is difficult to see how the situation will change so ofcourse it is tempting to see the manager as the fault. sacking him would change nothing of substance. P>J is a hard nosed businessman who has done well out of football and he will play this strategy to the end. I am certain that in the final analysis it is the club and supporters who will suffer any real loss

I am sorry but how long are we going to blame the budget? yes I understand we have literally nothing, but that does not dictate the tactics he uses, his substitutions and general managing of the team.

It is clear 433 is not going to work. In my view it is a 451 with nobody near Enoch at all and the two widemen basically playing as second full backs. Is that because of the budget?

He has gone and surpassed himself today with another belter in his interview "I mean, apart from two one on one saves and the penalty, Peter has had nothing to do". What a ridiculous thing to say, as if restricting them to that is ok. Also "I would rather win 1-0 than lose 4-3", no s*** Les. Getting sick of hearing these stupid comments.

I understand it is difficult with this budget, but football managers find a way and Les isn't one I'm afraid. We will be beaten by Bristol Rovers, and if we get tonked again i feel he should look at himself and hopefully realise he isn't up to it.

It is from the top of the club that the problems start with further cuts to the playing budget from last season leaving us facing an uphill battle to stay up.

We ar struggling to score goals and are now leaking goals at an alarming rate away from home. We have been more competative at home the last few games but it is embarassing when we go away.

The tactics at times need to be looked and maybe if either Grandison or Mendy leave after tuesday we could look at getting in a right winger/midfielder and switch to 4-4-2.

We are currently bottom of the table and i fear we could be there for a few weeks yet.Getting some of the injured players back may help a bit but i cant see it making too much of a difference if we play the same formation.

1 win in 8 league games is awful something needs to be done to change this situation.

We are the rovers but at the moment we are a pale shadow of the club we were even a few seasons ago.

Ive seen a lot worse times than these a good few years ago but can see them returning if club nothing is changed.

Away form wasn't stellar last season, but even though Tranmere are bottom, they can actually get out of the relegation zone by beating Bristol rovers, so the situation doesn't look as dire as it might first seem.

The comments about it being all to easy to criticise Les is true.

Johnson is killing the club by not even giving Les a bit more money for people, or trying to source it.

Even another £100,000 for Les, would have allowed him 6 players with another £300 a week plus bonuses, which could have gotten Macken, possibly sealed the Owens deal and possibly gotten Hulme as well.

Johnson will NOT tell anybody what happens.

Why the heck are the club giving J-league officials, free hospitality and then claiming they will learn about how an English league club works and Tranmere learn about how J-league works.

Excuse me, but how does that help Tranmere!!!!

Probably not.

Maybe enough guaranteed Yen to give Tranmere at least another £500 a week for players.

Does knowing what J-league clubs do allow Johnson to tweak his spending, so he can make another £500,000+ a season?

No. Especially if the Japanese Tax system permits their clubs, to do stuff that Tranmere can't, I.E. lower corporate taxes, no VAT etc.

Worst case scenario, Johnson copies their business models and ends up with enough money for a £900 a week budget, depending on whether such clubs operate better or worse than English ones.

That was probably only mentioned on the website and in papers, so people didn't turn up to Peterborough and think some Yakuza style Japanese heavies, were coming to forceably make Johnson sell up.

Oh it's okay people, they're just here to give us some potentially useless insights, into a league system we don't play in and they probably used the executive boxes gratis, no doubt, or is suddenly Cresswell going to Grampus-8 for a 10,000,000 Yen a week contract, which I think is about £10,000 a week and then we get £80,000 for him in another, take the mickey style, player transfer deal.

No manager is perfect, that's why Mourinho lost to Middlesborough 3-0 one time, so Les isn't perfect, but exepcting any manager to want the Tranemre job, with current budgets, is like expecting Duncan Bannatyne to buy the whole club.

Wake up here people, please. No offense to anybody, but Tranmere has no competitive budget, but then if they had a bit more and could sign the likes of Owens, Macken and possibly Hulme and had 3-4 more points, people would be giving Les more kudos, for doing what he was doing, with £1,500 a week strikers, when around 70% of other league 1 managers, had strikers earning £1,000+ a week, more than that.

Les won't always do the right things, but then look at Ferguson losing to Leeds in the cup and he nearly lost his job in 1989, when he lost 5-1 to Man City

At least Les has never conceded 5 goals to anybody. No comparison intended between him and Fergie.

Johnson IS and ALWAYS will be the problem and Devonexile is so right about Johnson. Until he starts being more honest about trying to sell his stake, the whole club or procuring investment, Tranmere will just get rich people strolling in, getting VIP treatment and leaving withount promising any kind of assistance to Tranmere, with good loans or extra money.

This is NOT acceptable to give Les rubbish money and leave him to take the kicking, on places like this site. Give Les £4,000 a week budget, then if he was bottom, I'd give him a kicking, even I'd rant about Les then.

Give the guy a break, he's not perfect, but no manager is and until he gets at leats around another £500 a week, to be competitive with maybe 5-6 other clubs, Tranmere will NEVER get the quality Les tried to get, but all too often couldn't afford.

Les is Johnsons stooge and frankly if he's not careful, Les might walk out and then Tranmere will get no manager, except one who's probably managed £30,000 players in Evostick Division 1 who could make Enoch play like a £30,000 player and get us hideously relgated, with 25% points and bottom 8 in league 2 by October.

Come on Johnson, where's the money to help Tranmere survive? In a Japanese offshore account?

Matt do you honestly see us winning at Bristol Rovers as i dont i fear another easy victory for the home team.

We are in a downward spiral pj wont invest anymore money the team suffers as a result the attendances drop further meaning even less money and fairly likely leading to relegation at the end of the season.

Les cannot escape all the blame as its his tactics that are clearly not working this system and he wont start a game with 4-4-2.Also it cant help when the likes of morrow and mcgurk are signed players who have poor injury records are seem likely to miss more games than they will play.

I was watching them then as well, you can diagree all you like but just look at the way the club is being run at the moment cost cutting everywere falling attendances etc.

I see the possibility of a win, because last season, Bristol Rovers, could have been a win, if Tranmere hadn't had a man sent off and held on for about an hour. They won the first game too.

The psychological edge is there and Bristol Rovers have been badly struggling until the last week or so.

I'm not saying Les is completely blameless, but I think he has actually started with 4-4-2, admittedly only in the Accrington game.

He tried 4-4-2 last seson for 3 games when they beat Yeovil, drew Charlton and lost to Oldham and he said it gave the opposition a couple more chances, so he dropped it.

I wasn't wholly behind his reasoning for dropping it, but you just accept the reasoning.

I'm just surprised they didn't try to sign Enoch when Leeds binned him, because he'd have been match fit at the start of the season and might have gotten a couple more goals by now, but perhaps beasue he hadn't been to Falkirk and struggled to fit in, he might have been in a position to demand more than Tranmere could afford.

So he ditched the system after 3 games because it was giving the opposition more chances, well in 8 league games this season the opposition have had more chances than us in the majority of the games and he has stuck with the same system.

Id agree that Enoch has done well but i think if we played 4-4-2 he could form a good partnership with ITM if service was provided to them.

I would guess that maybe Jim Harvey would want the job as i would think hed prefer to manage us rather than Stalybridge Celtic and im sure there must be other people out there who would want the job.

Were you watching a different game? Blanchard was @#$%& useless. He got completely skinned in the attack which led to the penalty and gave away several cheap free-kicks around the area. He was awful, probably the worst player in our back four, and that's saying something.

Grandison and Goodison were both dire too, outpaced and outbattled time and again, and only Cresswell can come out of this game with any kind of credit defensive wise, though going forward he was one of our worst, constantly miss-hitting free-kicks and passes.

The problem for us was once again our refusal to play the ball on the floor. Last weekend against Charlton we livened up when we brought Jennings on and started playing the ball on the floor down the flanks for both him and Akins.

Today, Jennings barely got a touch. We just kept playing the same awful cross field ball to Akins who kept getting absolutely nowhere near it. He was shocking was Akins. His first touch was dire and he lost the ball EVERY time. Can't complain about Jennings, just wasn't given a chance to attack the ball and the back line like he was last week.

Our midfield was equally as awful as the defence. I don't honestly remember Mendy touching the ball, whilst Welsh did a very minimal amount too. Labadie can come out with a bit of credit, he put himself about and set up the goal, but still not good enough and not a patch on last seasons standards from him.

The game changed when Fraughan came on. He showed a willingness to get the ball down and pass it and from then on we were much better and I'd say edged the last twenty minutes or so, including the goal.

Upfront, Thomas-Moore and McGurk had very little effect on the game, barely having a touch between them, but Enoch was strong again and comfortably our MOTM for me, taking his goal very well, doing a lot of running and winning balls when in all honesty there was often no point as there was nobody around him.

The constant hoofing has got to stop. I know we've got a big team and Les want's us to battle physically but we should be doing that on the floor. With Jennings and Akins we've got quick players who will speed past full-backs, but they've got to be given the opportunity to do so.

The goals today came from very disappointing set-piece situations, all of which we failed to defend. The first goal was down to a terrible clearance by Dale Jennings, the second a free-kick, cheaply given away, which was struck straight in, and the third, well that was just woeful.

The defender pealed away at the back stick, headed the ball back across unmarked, with another Colchester player bundling home unmarked from inside the six yard box.

A final word goes to Peter Gulacsi. He can hang his head in shame for two of the goals IMO. People will argue the second wasn't his fault, it was just an excellently struck free-kick, but no 'keeper should be getting beaten at his near post like that, whilst for the third, to go with the poor marking, he should have been coming to claim the knock down. He played better second half, but he could have done better for three goals in two matches. Very poor.

I still believe in Les. I think once we can get the likes of Ian Thomas-Moore, Adam McGurk, Ash Taylor and co. fully fit then we'll be in a much better position.

We really miss Ash, even more so today than ever. His presence in front of the back four is huge and a lot of attacks would have been broken up by him sitting in there today.

A fully fit Thomas-Moore would have done a lot more running and been a lot more effective than Lucas Akins, whilst we've seen glimpses of quality so far from McGurk that suggests he could be a very handy striker for us.

What is most confusing though is how we can go from brilliant against Charlton to so dire today. One shot on target all match is not good enough, whether home or away. We've got to be consistent, and if not consistent, then at least more solid away from home, like we were at the start of the season.

Until he forgets his stubborn ways playing the same useless formation and tactics of smacking it forward we will get nowhere. We are hardly scoring and leaking goals now as well, starting to look icreasingly more like it was under a certain someone last year.

As from the learning curve that Les is talking about we did that lesson at Yeovil and two weeks latter same lesson

and where did I say you did

I don't want Les out and I'll back Les until he's sacked/steps down or whatever.
But Les shouldn't have been given the job on a permanent basis at all. After rescuing us last season, he should have been given a bonus, a pay rise and told his Physio job is still there for him.
But Les is a Physio, not a manager and the results are increasingly bearing that out. I can't go on performances as I can't get to the games, but the results alon speak volumes!
He knows this isn't good enough as do the players. I hope these past few weeks are a realisty check for them all.

Reading the above a couple of points have come up for me

1 Why sign players that have poor injury records, if McGurk and Morrow had been any good would the likes of Villa and Ipswich not stuck with them, note also that Mcgurk did nt actually kick a ball for Villa and Morrow did make a few appearances for Ipswich but a long time ago, never the less they have been out injured more than they have played
2 Atkins, he like Brown (who has since gone back to WBA) cant keep hold of the ball, he is being played out wide when his natural possition is striker, with no pace or distribution whats the point !
I quite like the wing back idea, if you look at Fraughn on the left he can distribute and rarely gives the ball away, on the right I would go with Mackreth, the lad has plenty to offer, never gives it away, provides cover for the full back and has ability to beat the full back to create a chance for the striker, who ever that may be!
Although one more master stroke he is out on loan ?

I cant see mackreth or fraughan as wing backs as i dont see either of them being that strong tackling or defensively.

Akins actually is not that slow hes got a good turn of foot.

There is no chance Fraughan or MacKreth could make it as wing-backs. They have pace but they simply do not have the pace or the defensive know how

THe more attendances fall the greater the cost cutting
THere is virtually no room for further cost cutting surely ? Therefore, what happens next ?
It used to be said that Tranmere were not poor as they owned their own ground, where other clubs rented theirs.
A great pity that Tranmere owned the ground, for had they been obliged to rent, there would not be this situation and no PJ.
I was just recalling that '90's ? TV progamme " Rejected FC " Accrington Stanley were featured on it , and here they are, resurrected from the dead.
I wonder if the corporation will rent TRFC space ? THey may, out of sympathy, after they have dropped the sponsorship (?) Fancy a drop of £2,000 a week on top of falling gates !
