Following his side's exit from the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at the first round stage on Tuesday night thanks to a penalty shoot-out loss after a 1-1 draw with Accrington Stanley, Manager Les Parry admitted his side didn't do enough in front of goal.....
As Accrington Stanley of League Two dispatched Rovers out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at the first round stage after a penalty shoot-out, Rovers boss Les Parry admitted his side didn't do enough in front of goal.
Parry told the Tranmere Rovers Official Website......
"We had a lot of balls into the box, we had a lot of half chances without making the keeper make too many saves. I thought we dominated the first half more than the second but we made him make a couple of saves in the second half. The disappointing thing with the first half is that we didn't turn possession into chances."
"There's no complaints, it's all about scoring goals and not about making chances."
"I thought the young lads did well. We had seven 19-year olds in the side tonight which is fantastic that such a young side can perform to that level. John Welsh went off at half time with a calf injury so he's going to be out for a while and we'll have even more youngsters playing."
"I thought (Jermaine Grandison) had a great game. He's laid back, stands his ground and heads and kicks it. I think he'll be an excellent acquisition."
"Mendy came on at half time for John Welsh and we saw some glimpses of what he can do as well."
Speaking of the recent Ian Thomas-Moore exit talk, Parry added.....

If hes not happy here then I cant see Les wanting a bad egg in the squad, as much as a quality player ITM is, an a great pro, if hes gonna leave at the end of the current deal then we might as well try an get some pennies for him!
