Rovers defender Ash Taylor will miss the first few months of the season

HEADERNEW - breakingnews

Tranmere Rovers boss Les Parry has today recieved a huge blow after it was discovered that Ashton Taylor could be out for up to four months due to a cartilage injury.

The 19-year old, who can play in defence or midfield, picked up the injury in pre-season training and has missed all of Tranmere's pre-season friendly matches.

He underwent surgery this week to repair the damage and will now undergo rehabilitation sessions on the injury to get him back to full fitness.

The initial assessment of the injury is that Taylor, who was called upto the Wales U21 squad at the end of last season, is likely to be out for between three and four months.

Taylor recently signed a one-year contract extension at Prenton Park, keeping him on the Wirral until 2012, this after a very successful season in the first team last year.

a big blow lets hope he can get fit in 3 rather than 4 months, our squad is wafer thin with 2 already injured for sometime and the season hasnt even started yet.

We really could do with 5 or 6 new signings

Hopefully Cathalina and Broomes won't be out for too long, the sooner we get them back the better, but agree could do with some new signings. Wouldn't mind getting Nick Wood who scored on Wednesday, or the right-back, Strikland(?) either. Would at least provide some cover, if nothing else!

I think if they do ok tomorrow they will both be offered contracts and maybe the other two trialists as well.

Fingers crossed we manage to get the new striker in as well, lets hope we are getting the injuries out of the way early and once the season starts we have a better run of luck
