Goalkeeping coach David Timmins has left the club after less than a month in his position at Prenton Park

The experienced Timmins has left Rovers to join Stockport County, where he has once again teamed up with new Stockport manager Paul Simpson, who worked with Timmins for six years at Preston North End and Shrewsbury Town.

Timmins failed to sign a contract with Tranmere and joined Stockport earlier this week, with Rovers boss Les Parry confirming that as soon as Simpson got the Stockport job, he knew Timmins wouldn't stay on the Wirral long.

Timmins was recently highly praised by Tranmere goalkeeper Joe Collister, who said working with a full-time goalkeeping coach was a key factor in helping him develop as a player.

Les Parry and Tranmere must now start the search once again for a new goalkeeping coach, with Eric Nixon rumoured to be in the running for the job.

Nixon recently left his post at Fleetwood Town, where he has been working alongside former Tranmere midfielder Mickey Mellon, and was at Prenton Park for Tranmere's 2-0 friendly win over Nottingham Forest last night.

Actually more important than ever Man City will expect us to have a keeper coach to look after Gunnar.

Of course it's important. How else do you expect the goalkeepers to train and get better? We need to get this position filled ASAP

Tranmere are an absolute disgrace when it comes to looking after their goalkeepers, they have not had a real goalkeeping coach since John Achterburg left for Liverpool, how do you expect the keepers like Joe collister to move forward and when there is no keeper training, and what is happening with the School of Excellence regarding the keeper training is nothing short of a disaster.
Tranmere had some great prospects coming through the ranks, infact they are still there, except for one, bringing back Nixon would be a return to the dark ages for goalkeeping at Tranmere, sorry to say it.

im more concerned about why he left that may be more alarming than the lack of a full time keeper coach! i recall stockport asking US for money last game of the season because they couldnt afford a packet of monster munch...

in all honesty i think this reflects worse on the man than on the club, i wouldn't trust him in future and probably a lot of others wouldn't too. also, creit to les for not trying to hold on to someone "who wanted to be somewhere else".
