19-year old signs new one year deal at Prenton Park

Having signed his first professional contract on New Years Eve 2008, the same day as Ashton Taylor, the youngster's previous deal with the club was due to expire this summer, but this new deal will see Fraughan stay at Prenton Park until at least June 2011.

The central-midfielder, who can also play on the left or right, is a graduate of Rovers' successful Centre of Excellence, which has produced such talents as Iain Hume, Ryan Taylor and Jason Koumas in the past, having joined Tranmere at the age of 14 from Merseyside neighbours Liverpool.

After several impressive seasons in the youth and reserve team, Fraughan made his Tranmere debut on the opening day of the 2009/10 season against Yeovil Town, going on to make eight appearances over the course of the season.

In 2010, Fraughan moved on loan to Aberystwyth Town, managed by former Tranmere midfield Alan Morgan, in the Welsh Premier League in a bid to gain more first team experience, and enjoyed a successful loan spell with the club, scoring three times in thirteen appearances.

On the contract extension, Tranmere manager Les Parry told the club's official site "Ryan is a talented youngster who did really well in his loan spell at Aberystwyth Town.

"He is comfortable on the ball, likes to take players on and has an eye for goal and I'm pleased he will be with us again next season".

This is excellent news. Ryan is a huge prospect and keeping him is important. The club has been so proactive so far this summer, and it's great to see us getting three lads all under 20 tied down to new contracts

Another good bit of news. I havent seen enough of him to comment, but for the lads who have seen him a fair bit, is he good enough to compete for a regular first team spot?

yeah great news, so pleased,was worried with Labadie signing if we would have both, and as the Sub says all getting sorted so early.................... hope the imputus isn't lost during the World cup......................
