Tranmere have today re-signed former Crewe centre-back Chris McCready on-loan until the end of the season from League Two side Northampton Town, meaning the player returns to Prenton Park after a year with Tranmere two seasons ago during which time he formed a decent partnership with Ian Goodison.....

Les Parry has made his first signing as Tranmere Manager today with the addition of centre-back Chris McCready, who joins on loan until the end of the season from League Two side Northampton Town.

McCready knows all about Tranmere Rovers, with the centre-back spending the 2006/07 season at Prenton Park when he made 47 appearances under then manager Ronnie Moore, scoring one goal.

He started his career with Crewe, from whom Tranmere initially signed him, and then following his release by Tranmere two and a half years ago, he re-signed for the club on a two year contract.

Last summer, McCready joined Northampton Town and was a regular in the team at the start of the season, making eighteen appearances for the club so far this season.

The signing of McCready is Les Parry's first as Tranmere manager, with the former Rovers physio stating he the defender has signed a defensive cover, with Rovers now turning their attention to signing a striker.

McCready is a tall centre-back, who, although injury prone, is reasonably quick along the ground and a reliable player who you can depend upon to put in consistent performances.
