Saturday’s away trip to Gillingham in Coca-Cola League One has become the latest victim of what is one of the UK’s worst cold snaps for many years. The postponement prevents Rovers’ players from having to travel down to Kent but does mean that the trip will now have to be made in midweek……

Despite the best efforts of staff and supporters of Gillingham Football Club, Tranmere's trip to Kent in Coca-Cola League One on Saturday has been postponed due to the continuing cold snap - arguably one of the worst the UK has seen for many years.

As with Rovers' Boxing Day game at Oldham which was also called off, the pitch at the Priestfield Stadium is reportedly playable largely due to the amount of snow sitting on top of the covers preventing it from freezing but the conditions outside the Stadium and the surrounding area have resulted in the game being postponed.

Rovers supporters and staff will be glad the decision to postpone the game came early enough to prevent both the team and fans from making the long trip to Kent but the decision now means a long midweek trip to play the match at a later date, surely affecting the amount of support Rovers will receive.

Meanwhile the above mentioned Boxing Day game away at Oldham Athletic has been rescheduled for Wednesday 20^th January at 7.45pm although if the cold snap continues too much longer, the game must surely be in doubt for a second time.

Tranmere also confirmed that efforts are being made to re-arrange the home game with Leeds United which was postponed last weekend due to the involvement by both sides in the third round of the FA Cup but Liverpool and Everton's Europa League exploits are currently making finding a suitable date difficult.

Can't say I'm overly gutted to be honest in this weather to not be travelling and am pleased it has been called off early enough that no-one including the Squad, had to travel down.

I doubt I will be going down there midweek though I have to say.

Last thing we wanted given recent form! I have a feeling with all of our division nearly being depressingly down south that not much football. Will be played in league 1 on sat.
I suppose saves the lads an the fans a hell of a wasted journey
