Mark Ridgway brings you a report from Tranmere's Coca Cola League One clash with Exeter. Rovers slumped to a 2 1 defeat with Michael Ricketts scoring Tranmere's consolation....

Rovers

Tranmere fell to defeat for the seventh successive game today. This time away at recently promoted Exeter. It a game that appeared to have action, Rovers managed to gift Exeter two goals with poor defending. Michael Ricketts pulled a goal back for his first Rovers goal, but it had no affect on the result.There were four changes to the side that lost at home to Walsall. Joe Collister made his first competative start in place of the injured Luke Daniels. Ian Thomas-Moore returned inplace of Craig Curran. Seb Carole made his Rovers debut in place of Alan Mahon. And Chris Shuker was dropped for Shay Logan, returning from suspention. So the starting XI looked like this:CollisterEdds, Goodison, Broomes, CresswellLogan, Welsh, McLaren, CaroleRicketts, Thomas-MooreSubs: Coughlin, Taylor, Mahon, Shuker, Barnett, Bain, CurranRovers started the brighter of the two teams with Logan and Ricketts linked up well. 17 year old Joe Collister was in complete controll and he dominated his box early on. The first goal attempt came from Rovers when Ian Thomas-Moore forced Jansson into a smart save from McLarens quickly taken free kick. Logan was again causing problems moments later as his cross was inches away from Thomas- Moore.

The first goal came against the run of play on 25 minutes, Noone did well down the wing and his cross evaded everyone except Adam Stansfield who tapped in an open goal.

The end to end start continued despite the goal, with Ricketts testing Jansson and Stansfield clipping over the Rovers bar. The last attack of the half came when Cresswell smashed a free kick straight at Jansson.

Half Time: Exeter 1-0 Tranmere

After a quite start to the second half the hosts doubled their lead on 55 minutes, Noone broke clear and his effort was palmed away by Collister straight to Stansfield who tapped in his second. It was bad luck on the young keeper who made a good original save. 

Soon after the dropped Mahon and Shuker were brought on in place of Carole and Edds.

Soon after Rovers got on the score sheet for the first time away from home this season. Goodisons flick on was powered in by Ricketts for his first Rovers goal.

Exeter then had two chances when Stansfield dragged wide and Logan had to clear of his own goal line.

Kithson Bain was introduced for Ricketts and Rovers huffed and puffed for the equaliser, the best they could muster was McLarens header that hit the side netting.
