After bolstering his midfield considerably since arriving as Manager at Prenton Park and then earlier this week turning to the goalkeeping position, John Barnes today began building his defence with the signing on loan of talented right-back Shaleum Logan from Premier League Manchester City  until the end of the season.

The 21-year old who hails from Manchester is a graduate of Manchester City's youth academy and rose to prominence in the 2005/06 season with some fine displays during their run to the FA Youth Cup Final.

He made his Premier League debut for City in February 2009 and has already played for Grimsby Town, Scunthorpe United and Stockport County on loan making 19 career appearances in total.

With the current big spending that is going on at Eastlands under Manager Mark Hughes, Logan will perhaps have limited first team chances for City for this season at least but will be likely to feature heavily for Rovers this season.

Logan has also been given permission to play in all three cup competitions for Tranmere by Manchester City.

Speaking of his latest new signing, Manager John Barnes said...

"I'm delighted to be able to bring Shaleum to Tranmere for the season.  He is a talented young player who will improve our defence.  I'd like to thank Manchester City Manager Mark Hughes for allowing Shaleum to join us on loan."

He's had loan spells at Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Stockport and played three times for City's first team.

Pessimism, see thine own way out.

Sounds like a decent signing for sure!

Does this mean that if we don't get anyone for centre-back that Edds will play there?

Let's hope he's decent. A young lad that could be a gem and the way city are spending, we could find ourselves in a good position to getting him permantly.
Well that's if he's good!

hope he doesn't bring Richards swine flu with him, squads thin enough as it is winking smiley

it's difficult with Edds for me... I really don't think he's quick enough or tall enough/ good enough in the air for centre half and the quick players will have a field day like beckford/tyson's etc (Think Tyson's left tho hasn't he?)

BUT he's a really likable fella, and i'd be surprised if anyone on the current squad tries harder and gives as much effort as he does.

sound like a promising lad this full back will wait to see before judging but we all had doubts about Shotts at times it wasn't all plain sailing was it, so this could be an improvement on even shotts if it pulls off.
