I have to say that we were unlucky not to win that game. For the side second in the League, I thought the Dons were awful and the only way they looked like scoring was a penalty.

I would probably have taken a point before the game but after it ended I was little bit disappointed.

Great to see Terry get his first goal for the Club though and my Man of the Match was Jenno followed by Shotton.

Yeah even though they are second I am annoyed at the result. They were poor and were there for the taking but our attacking play wasn't good enough today. Savage was awful, didn't hold the ball up, didn't win any headers and may aswell be a right winger. He has no football brain at all, for example when a cross comes in and he will be standing on the edge of the box, not throwing himself at it like a striker should do. Also when he gets the ball he turns back around and slows the move up. Gornell did more when he came on than Savage did in the whole game, some nice flicks and touches and got a goal. If our attacking was half decent we would have won that game today.

It was disappointing to see us only leave with a point especially with Peterborough being the only side in the top 6 who won, but the positive is that we are still in touching distance of the play-offs, even though we have allowed Stockport and Leeds to sneak into the frame as well.
Next weekend we have a big game against Swindon, not because they are a team fighting for promotion, quite the opposite as they are fending off relegation, but, if we win then once again we are going to be gaining ground.
There are three other pretty massive games in League One next Saturday, MK Dons v Leicester, Leeds v Scunthorpe, and Millwall v Oldham. That means that at least 3 of the teams above us will be dropping points next weekend, so once again we will probably have the chance to keep the gap down to a single game, and I would have to say that our next 3 games are all very much winnable against sides in the bottom third of the table. 6pts from the next 3 matches would be a success in my opinion, and that should mean that we should be in or at least able to get in the top 6 when we walk out onto the pitch against Leicester on March 11th.

I have to agree with the Savage claims though, I didn't think he provided a lot of attacking presence yesterday, I have said a couple of times this season that he would be best suited in the position which Moore was playing in for most of the season on the wing. Gornell showed a lot of promise yesterday, in fact I think he looks to be more of a prospect than Curran based on his movement when he came on the pitch for the last 10 minutes. His goal was hardly prolific by any means, a bit of a melee in the box, but at least he got his name on the score sheet for the first time (a couple of sources we claiming it was his first ever senior goal, forgetting his quite impressive loan spell at Stanley earlier on this season).
I would have him playing just behind Moore, it might sound strange to have the more youthful and quicker Terry playing behind, but he looks like the sort of player who could cause a bit of havoc for defenders, draw a couple of of position, and then pass the ball on and move himself into a decent position. If he was to draw a centre-back or full-back out of position, he could create space in the box for Moore to run into, or play the ball out wide to Shukes or Sonko and then get himself into a decent position in case he needs to pick up the pieces in front of goal and stick a toe out. Much like Savage could have done when Shuker struck across the goal just before halftime yesterday, in fact I was surprised that Moore didn't manage to get anything significant on it either after the keeper palmed it away, but it looks to be the type of position that Gornell could be deadly in, two of the goals he scored for Accrington came from picking up the ball in the box, one was from 6 yards out off a header across goal, and the other was a well taken sidestep then strike after picking up the ball from a position behind another Accrington player.
He would also get the chance to strike from just outside the box as well if defenders backed off a bit and gave him space, one of his goals was basically a great lob from outside the box against Shrewsbury.

I would definately not be ruling out our chances of the play-offs just yet, especially if Arsenal believe they can still make the top 4, and Liverpool still think that they can win the Premiership. There's even Everton fans who think that they can break into the top 4 this season, and they are 10pts off with only 12 games remaining. So if they think that they can close a 10pt gap in 12 games, then there's no reason why we can't close a 5pt gap to Oldham in our last 14 games.

You can't just blame Savage,he is more like Heskey or Zamora,he holds the ball up,it's players like Moore who are not doing their job,he has been poor the last 3 games,although he was marginally better on Saturday,Barnett was excellent,he seems to get better every game,Gornell should be starting more games as he is the only one who looks like a real striker,i think RM shouled see how him & Savage link up together,but overall we should be pleased that we never gave up trying & we looked as if we wanted this game,now all we need to do is play as good as we have the last 2 games when we play lower table opposition

Ian Moore is still player of the season for me so far.

Good point made by Inatimate about next weekends fixtures too. A win gives us a very good chance still.

We have to go with Moore and Gornell up front if you ask me. Two players who are much more capable of scoring than Savage and who will get in the positions to have chances, which Savage doesn't.

Agreed Matt. We are simply not scoring enough goals, and that problem is not going to be solved by Savage
