Deadly Submarine takes a brief look at the lows and lows of the 0-0 FA Cup away draw at Accrington Stanley which was a dire game both in terms of entertainment and result. The result means both teams will meet again for the third time this season in the replay a week on Tuesday.

Accrington S 0 - 0 Tranmere

  Weather Report

Only wet at odd times during the game and not too cold either - apart from one idiot who decided that taking his T-Shirt off was a clever mood in early November.

Crowd

2,126 were inside the Fraser Eagle Stadium with almost half of them (the exact number is still to be confirmed) seeming to be Rovers Fans who failed to really make any noise in the absence of a roof and of something to shout about.

Referee Watch

Trevor Kettle (Rutland) - Not much to say about this referee today.  His Main Stand side linesman seemed to have a few blind moments during the game which didn't help the man in the middle but aside from that nothing controversial occured  - 7/10

Best Moment

I wish their was one that jumped into my memory but there honestly isn't.  Edds (twice) and Shuker should have put chances away but failed to do so.

Worst Moment

The behaviour (once again) of some of our so called ‘fans' one of whom threw a bottle onto the pitch - an incident which is sure to be reported by the referee after he ordered the bottle to be taken round to the dugouts after the Stanley goalkeeper reported it.

Funniest Moment

The lad in the crowd near us who took his T-Shirt off (see above) and then had it thrown around the away end before eventually managing to get it back.

Tranmere Man of the Match

Steven Jennings - Nothing outstanding from Jennings but better than any of the others on a very poor day for Rovers.  Coyne had nothing to do for most of the game, the defence were not at their best despite the clean sheet and the midfield bar Jennings was appalling as was Savage upfront on his own (until Greenacre came on).

Connections

Former Rovers midfielder John Mullin faced his old side but on loan Tranmere striker Terry Gornell was unable to play against his parent Club and watched the game from the Stands.

Rovers Fans

As mentioned above it was hard to create an atmosphere without a roof and some fans behaved in a disgraceful manner at the game (and reportedly afterwards on the train too).

Accrington Stanley Fans

Considering the home fans were almost outnumbered by Rovers fans, they made a fair but of noise in the Stand behind the opposite goal despite their team giving them few chances to get excited about in the game.

Summary

The worst Rovers display of the season in front of possibly their biggest following.  We were the better team in the game but failed to take our chances, some of then clear-cut and ultimately paid the price.

Entertainment Value

A terrible game of football as a whole and although Rovers had the best chances to score and win the game, neither team provided much to get anyone excited. 3/10
